Sleek is seeking an experienced UK accounts professional to prepare year-end accounts, CT600s and VAT for UK small businesses. You will work in a UK-led pod of five, reviewing colleagues’ work and ensuring accuracy before it reaches the manager. You’ll collaborate with UK clients and adapt to UK timelines.

You’ll need 4+ years in accounting with UK experience, strong English writing, and comfort with cloud tools like Xero or QuickBooks. Remote work is available.

Mission of the role

Prepare and review UK year end accounts, corporation tax returns and VAT returns for UK small business clients. You work in a pod of five led by a UK-based Senior Accounts Manager: two senior accountants, two accountants and a bookkeeper, serving around 300 UK small business clients from January and growing to around 500 through 2027. Until the manager starts in January, you work in one of our existing UK teams. You review the accountants’ and bookkeeper’s work so it reaches the manager right the first time, and you are the person they come to with questions.

What you’ll do

• Prepare year end accounts (FRS 102 and 105), corporation tax computations and CT600s, and VAT returns under Making Tax Digital.
• Review the work of the accountants and bookkeeper in your pod, explain your corrections, and help them get it right the first time.
• Chase clients early for missing records, and tell your manager in good time when a deadline is at risk.
• Email UK clients directly to ask for information or explain what you need.
• Keep client records and workflow data accurate, so anyone can see where each client stands.
• Use the AI tools we are building into our products and workflows, and help shape them.

Key outcomes in the first 6–12 months:

1. No statutory deadline missed because of us on the clients you work on.
2. Work you send to the Senior Accounts Manager needs fewer review rounds, measured from when you start.
3. Work from the accountants and bookkeeper you review needs fewer review rounds over time.
4. Workflow data for your clients is accurate and up to date.

Must-have experience

1. At least part-qualified: CA or CA Intermediate (India), CPA (Philippines), or ACCA (member, or all Applied Skills papers passed).
2. At least 4 years in accounting, including at least 2 preparing UK year end accounts, CT600s and VAT returns for small businesses, in a UK practice or an outsourcing firm.
3. At least 1 year reviewing other accountants’ or bookkeepers’ work.
4. Confident with Xero, QuickBooks or a similar cloud accounting package.
5. Written English good enough to email UK clients directly.
6. Based in India or the Philippines, with the right to work there.
7. Able to work a shift that overlaps UK business hours.

2. Knowledgeable: you give the accountants and bookkeeper a definite answer.
3. Coaching: when you correct someone’s work, you explain why, so the mistake doesn’t come back.
4. Great communicator: clear in writing, with UK clients and with a manager in another country.
5. Process, data and compliance: you follow the process, keep records clean and never cut corners.
6. One team: you help the rest of the pod succeed, not just your own clients.
7. Open to AI: the pod can grow to 500 clients only because our tools take on more of the routine work.

The interview process

• TA Screening Call: A 30 minute call with our Talent Acquisition team
• Live Technical Assessment: A ~60–90 minute live skills test to assess your hands-on bookkeeping capability.
• Technical Interview : A 45 - 60 minute interview with the Accounting manager who will assess your technical skills.
• Soft Skills Interview: A ~15-30 minute interview with the hiring team to evaluate real-world work scenarios against our core behavioural values.
• Reference Verification: Prior to final offer confirmation, we will conduct one professional reference check with your recent direct manager or supervisor. To keep the process moving smoothly, this step may be initiated during the final interview stages.
