Freshersworld in Bengaluru, India is seeking a Senior Accountant, Lease Accounting to manage global leasing processes under US GAAP and local GAAP, ensuring compliance and accurate financial reporting.

You will oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, analyze variances, manage the lease management system (CoStar), and coordinate with Tax, FP&A, and Audit teams to support statutory and SEC-related filings.

Key ResponsibilitiesResponsibilityThe Senior Accountant, Lease Accounting will be responsible for:

• Overseeing the monthly (quarterly, annual) closing process related to leasing.
• Assessing and consistently applying accounting treatment for new andexisting lease activities globally across all brands, and ensuring decisionsalign with accounting policy.
• Ensuring accounting in accordance with US GAAP, local GAAP andcompliance with both internal and external requirements.
• Monthly closing reports, variance analysis and reconciliations in accordancewith US GAAP and covering the Sox framework, and own the complianceaspect regarding this.
• Managing footnote information for SEC filings, as well as information for localstatutory filings.
• Fielding lease accounting inquiries and addressing complex leaseaccounting issues.
• Managing the lease management system, i.e. CoStar, for all brands globally.
• Reviewing the completeness and accuracy of abstracted lease agreementsin the lease management system for all brands globally.
• Maintaining lease accounting schedules within the lease managementsystem.
• Analyzing, importing, and maintaining global accounting inputs for FX ratesand discount rates in the lease management system.
• Partnering with Technical accounting to ensure completeness and accuracyof complex leases and accounting assumptions.
• Reviewing alerts in the lease management system to identify potential issuesthat need to be researched. Taking the recommended actions to correctissues, where appropriate.
• Generating and reviewing monthly lease journal entries; distributingmonthly and quarterly close reports, including reconciliations, disclosures,commitments, maturity analysis, forecasts, and other related reports tobrand accounting teams.
• Reconciling assigned balance sheet accounts monthly; resolving reconcilingitems on a timely basis.
• Preparing monthly variance explanations for income statement and balancesheet accounts, including providing financial details to leaders to facilitatebusiness decisions.
• Partnering with the Real Estate and Lease Administration teams to providefinancial analysis on the lease portfolio to help drive decisions at the SeniorManagement level.
• Executing standardized control procedures, and ensuring internal controlsare effectively maintained for assigned tasks. Ensuring compliance withaccounting policies.
• Providing support on both statutory and US financial audits and requestsfrom internal and external auditors.
• Partnering with the Global Process Owner on various initiatives.
• Enacting continuous process improvements across lease accounting andlease administration functions and cross-functionally in conjunction withother teams, when applicable.
• Interfacing with cross-functional teams, including Tax, FP&A, P2P, Real Estateand Technology.
• Supporting and engaging in complex and cross-functional innovation andimprovement projects in accounting and across finance.
• Other duties and special projects as required (e.g., reporting, analysis,automation, process standardization, etc.).
