Job summary

Alignerr seeks a Semiconductor Material Science Expert (AI Training) to join its remote, flexible contracting team. Masters/PhD holders will apply deep knowledge of semiconductor materials and molecular modeling to train AI models with rigorous scientific reasoning.

You will review AI outputs for scientific accuracy, collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers, and work on a schedule that fits your availability (10–40 hours/week). Excellent English communication is required.

• Develop, solve, and critically review advanced material science problems with real-world scientific relevance
• Apply your expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or related disciplines to design complex, rigorous problem statements
• Evaluate AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy, depth, and reasoning quality
• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to enhance model reasoning capabilities
• Ensure scientific rigor, clarity, and depth across all deliverables
• Work independently on task-based assignments - fully on your own schedule

Who You Are

• Master's or PhD in Material Science or a closely related field
• Deep expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or adjacent research areas
• Comfortable coding in Python or MATLAB for research or technical problem-solving
• Exceptionally clear written communicator - you can translate complex science into precise, structured language
• Detail-oriented and rigorous, with high standards for scientific accuracy
• Fluent in English

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with data annotation, data quality review, or AI evaluation workflows
• Background in applied semiconductor research, materials characterization, or computational materials science
• Experience writing technical documentation, research papers, or structured problem sets
• Familiarity with AI tools or large language models as an end user
