ROLE PURPOSE The Security Officer is accountable for the safety of Morcom's people, material, machinery and information inside the factory premises, and for the discipline of everything that crosses the gate. Nothing - man, material or vehicle - should enter or leave without an authorised, recorded entry. The role runs the guard force across all shifts, controls the gate and material movement, keeps CCTV and patrolling effective rather than decorative, prevents theft and pilferage before it happens, and maintains registers and reports that stand up in an audit, an insurance claim or a police complaint. Morcom prefers an ex-Armed Forces or ex-Police officer for this seat because the work rests on exactly what uniformed service builds: discipline, alertness on a long shift, command over a subordinate force, calmness in a confrontation, and the habit of writing things down as they happened.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Gate Control & Material Movement
- Gate discipline: Control the main gate round the clock - no person, vehicle or material moves in or out without proper authorisation and a recorded entry.
- Inward material: Check every incoming vehicle against the invoice / challan, verify quantity and seal, record vehicle and driver details, and hand over to Stores for receipt - no unloading without a gate entry.
- Outward gate pass: Release finished goods, scrap, tools, dies, machinery, samples and repair items ONLY against an approved gate pass (returnable / non-returnable) signed by the authorised person; maintain the gate-pass register and follow up every returnable item until it comes back.
- Scrap movement: Supervise scrap weighment and dispatch personally - scrap is the highest-risk leakage point in any factory. Cross-check weighment slips against the vehicle.
- Vehicle checking: Physically check outgoing vehicles, including the cabin and tool box; maintain a record of checks with time and guard name.
- Personal belongings: Enforce the bag / tiffin check policy for workmen and contract labour at shift change, conducted with courtesy and without discrimination.
Guard Force Management & Shift Deployment
- Deployment: Prepare the duty roster and post-wise deployment for all shifts - gate, stores, plant, parking, dispatch area and boundary - and ensure no post is left unmanned.
- Supervision & rounds: Take physical rounds in every shift, including night rounds at irregular hours; check alertness, turnout, post register entries and reliever handover.
- Agency coordination: Manage the security agency - attendance verification against the bill, replacement of unsuitable guards, guard verification documents (police verification, PSARA licence of the agency, ESIC / PF coverage) and monthly performance review.
- Briefing & training: Brief guards at every shift change on the day’s alerts, VIP or audit visits, dispatch plan and special instructions; train them on gate procedure, fire response, first aid and emergency drill.
- Turnout & discipline: Enforce uniform, punctuality, sobriety and conduct standards; report and act on indiscipline, sleeping on duty and unauthorised absence.
Surveillance, Patrolling & Access Control
- CCTV: Ensure all cameras are working, correctly positioned and recording; review footage daily for the critical areas and preserve footage of any incident before it is overwritten.
- Patrolling: Run a fixed patrolling schedule for the plant, boundary wall, stores, scrap yard, finished-goods area, electrical panels and parking, with recorded checkpoints.
- Access control: Control entry to restricted areas - stores, finished goods, server / ERP room, panel room, director's office - and maintain the key register with issue-and-return accountability.
- Visitor & contractor management: Issue visitor passes with ID verification and photograph, log in and out times, escort where required, and ensure contractor labour entry only against approved lists and gate passes.
- Night & holiday security: Ensure heightened watch on nights, Sundays, holidays an...
