Weekday AI (YC W21) is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a core engineering team in India and beyond. You will contribute to building scalable backend services and platforms for a fast-growing consumer fintech environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on coding in Java, Spring Framework, and clean design, with ownership across the software lifecycle and collaboration across multiple engineering functions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering or backend development.
• Hands-on Java and Spring Framework (Spring Boot) expertise.
• Strong understanding of OOP, data structures, algorithms, and design principles.
• Proven ability to design and develop scalable backend services.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable software applications and backend services.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements analysis to production monitoring.
• Translate requirements into reliable software solutions with high quality; write tests (unit/integration/functional).
• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and Architecture teams to deliver end-to-end features.
• Review code and contribute to engineering standards and documentation.
• Identify performance improvements and technical debt reductions.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise inJava, Spring Framework, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design. You will contribute to building reliable and scalable technology solutions for a fast-growing consumer fintech environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable software applications and backend services.
• Participate in the completesoftware development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through production monitoring.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into reliable and maintainable software solutions.
• Develop high-quality backend applications usingJava and Spring Framework.
• Apply strong object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and clean coding practices.
• Design efficient solutions using appropriatedata structures and algorithms.
• Evaluate technical trade-offs and make sound design decisions based on scalability, performance, maintainability, and reliability.
• Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to architecture and platform decisions.
• Write comprehensive unit, integration, and functional tests to ensure application quality.
• Proactively identify potential bugs, edge cases, performance issues, and reliability risks before they reach production.
• Debug complex application issues and perform detailed root-cause analysis.
• Support application deployment, production releases, monitoring, and post-deployment troubleshooting.
