Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in India is seeking an Antibody Development Scientist to join the antibody team and advance recombinant antibody platforms through molecular biology techniques in a fast-paced lab. You will conduct PCR, sequencing, immunoassays, and data analysis to support product development.

The role requires a Master's or PhD in life sciences with up to 4 years of experience, experience with NGS and bioinformatics, and familiarity with automation.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in life sciences with 0-4 years' experience or a recent PhD.
  • Hands-on experience with PCR, primer/vector design, DNA & RNA extraction and analysis.
  • Experience with sequencing data analysis and antibody sequencing workflows.
  • Familiarity with Python or R is a plus.
  • Experience with immunoassays such as ELISA, Western Blotting, IHC.

Responsibilities

  • Advance molecular biology techniques to enable high throughput antibody platforms.
  • Perform PCR, primer/vector design, DNA/RNA extraction and analysis, high throughput cloning.
  • Meticulous planning, data recording, and regular literature review.
  • Summarize data in written and oral formats; participate in team meetings.
  • Maintain schedules with attention to detail and troubleshooting as needed.

About Team: Antibody Team

The antibody team is involved in engineering and development of antibodies, with a deep focus on reagent quality and specificity. The core activities of the team include design, development, purification, conjugation, and testing of antibodies in a variety of immunoassay applications using groundbreaking tools and technologies. The goal of the program is product development and creation of product specific information to promote research use.

Role & Responsibilities

To be a member of the molecular biology core facility within an antibody development team through the advancement of innovative molecular biology techniques to enable high throughput recombinant antibody platforms.

  • Work in a fast paced environment towards antibody development & testing
  • Execute molecular biology techniques such as PCR, primer and vector design, DNA and RNA extraction and analysis, high throughput cloning
  • Meticulous experimental planning and execution to meet program goals.
  • Timely record keeping of results into data sheets and laboratory note-books.
  • Regular mining of literature and keeping oneself up to date with developments in the field of antibody development.
  • Compilation and presentation of data in written and oral formats. Active participation in team meetings.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to schedules.
Candidate Requirement:

Applicants should have a Master's degree or equivalent with 0-4 years' experience or a PhD in a life sciences field (submitted within the last one year) with a strong focus on molecular biology, immunology, biotechnology, or biochemistry.

  • Extensive hands on experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, primer and vector design, DNA and RNA extraction and analysis, high throughput cloning methods
  • Experience with Next Generation Sequencing platforms including library preparation, and handling of sequencers
  • Experience with bioinformatic analysis of sequencing data, particularly antibody sequencing
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R is a plus
  • Experience or familiarity with immunoassays such as ELISAs, Western Blotting, Immunocytochemistry, and/or immunohistochemistry.
  • Experience with antibody development and engineering including hybridoma, display technologies, single B cell, and other antibody platforms is desirable.
  • Experience in high throughput methods including automation is desirable
  • Experience in establishing new protocols and workflows is desirable
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify and troubleshoot technical challenges and provide suitable solutions
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word, Powerpoint, Excel and possess a strong statistical knowledge and familiarity with statistical software such as Prism.
