Job summary

Quest Global in India seeks a skilled engineer to design and commission SCADA/HMI systems for STATCOM projects. You will develop architectures, select communication protocols (MODBUS, IEC 61850), and create user-friendly HMIs for real-time monitoring.

You will perform FAT and testing, integrate with existing control systems, and ensure compliance with industry standards such as NERC CIP and IEC 62351. A Bachelor's or Master's in engineering and hands-on experience in energy or utility projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology.
• Experience in system design from energy, industrial or utility projects.
• Familiar with Zenon software platform, Aveva Plant SCADA, Eaton SMP gateway etc.
• Familiar with network traffic debugging tools (e.g., Wireshark).
• Familiar with testing/simulator tools (IEDScout, TMW Test Harness).
• Experience in electrical design of substation secondary systems is a benefit.

Responsibilities

• System Design and Architecture: Create and refine the architecture for SCADA systems tailored to STATCOM projects and develop HMIs for real-time monitoring and control; select communication protocols (MODBUS, DNP3, IEC 61850).
• Implementation and Integration: Install and commission SCADA/HMI systems; ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure and other control systems; conduct functional and performance testing.
• HMI Design: Create HMI pages based on customer specifications.
• FAT and interoperability testing: Prepare FAT, generate reports, and execute tests.
• Diagnostics and maintenance: Diagnose and resolve SCADA, HMI, and communication issues promptly.
• System updates and security: Manage updates, patches, and upgrades to enhance functionality and security.
• Improvements and standards: Identify improvements to enhance reliability of SCADA/HMI systems and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., NERC CIP, IEC 62351).
• Learning and growth: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to innovate and enhance system capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Key Individual Accountabilities:

• System Design and Architecture: Create and refine the architecture for SCADA systems tailored to STATCOM projects. Additionally, develop user-friendly HMIs for real-time monitoring and control of STATCOM systems and select and design appropriate communication protocols (e.g., MODBUS, DNP3, IEC 61850) for data exchange. Required experience in IEC 103 protocol and driver configuration
• Implementation and Integration: Perform the installation and commissioning of SCADA/HMI systems in STATCOM projects and ensure seamless integration of SCADA systems with existing infrastructure and other control systems. Conduct rigorous testing (functional and performance testing) to validate system reliability and performance.
• HMI Design: Create HMI pages based on customer specifications and requirements.
• Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and interoperability testing that includes FAT preparation, report creation and execution
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to SCADA, HMI, and communication systems promptly.
• Manage system updates, patches, and upgrades to enhance functionality and security.
• Identify and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency and reliability of SCADA/HMI systems.
• Ensure that all systems comply with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., NERC CIP, IEC 62351).
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to innovate and enhance system capabilities.
• Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
