The Opportunity
As an SAP TM Technical expert, you will lead the technical architecture, development and integration of SAP Transportation Management within S/4HANA or standalone TM. This role leads technical designs, oversees development teams, ensures adherence to development standards, and supports complex enhancements, performance optimization, and interface enablement.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test and deploy SAP TM and ABAP solutions based on the design from the Solution Architect and support successful implementation and transition to the application support team.
- Understand internal business pain areas and provide insight to enhance the development pipelines and design solutions for integrating other non‑SAP applications.
- Explore new SAP technologies, stay current with industry trends and standards, and maintain knowledge of SAP TM features.
- Build and maintain a solid understanding of application areas and business areas.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within the SAP TM module or its integrations.
- Collaborate with functional counterparts and cross‑module teams for targeted outcomes.
- Adhere to standard best practices for code quality and project deadlines.
- Provide technical guidance and support for SAP TM‑related projects.
- Conduct system testing and user training to ensure effective utilization of SAP TM.
- Monitor system performance and make necessary adjustments to improve efficiency.
- Maintain strong communication skills, being verbal and written.
- Be highly motivated, hardworking, and manage time effectively.
- Experience delivering projects in an Agile framework is advantageous.
- Certifications relevant to SAP TM are a plus.
Technical and Professional Requirements
- 4–5 years of experience in implementation, support and upgrade projects in SAP TM.
- Experience in one or more end‑to‑end implementations, integration, testing and application support in S/4HANA embedded TM and SAP TM.
- Ability to interact with cross‑functional teams from modules such as OTC and EWM for integration scenarios.
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills for coordinating across teams.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in ABAP OO, BOPF, FPM, FBI with experience on POWL, PPF, PCF, and Conditions.
- Expert in the BOPF framework along with consumer implementation and Enhancement Workbench.
- Deep knowledge of SAP TM architecture, frameworks, enhancement points and BAdIs.
- Experience with Business Objects Node elements such as Determination, Action, Validation and logic building around Business Object instance modification.
- Strong ALE/IDoc experience and CPI/PI integration concepts.
- Knowledge of Fiori/UI5, OData, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, RESTful services, CDS, AMDP and data modelling in S/4HANA, RISE with SAP, Cloud ALM, TM extensibility using SAP BTP, RAP model and Cloud SDK is advantageous.
- Proven ability to lead technical workstreams.
- Commitment to continuous learning and adherence to current industry standards.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Degree in Engineering or master’s degree or MBA in a Supply Chain area.
- Minimum of 4–5 years of experience in SAP TM.
- Desired SAP TM certification.
- Experience in the integration area of SAP TM and other modules.
