Job summary

Thoucentric in Pune is seeking an SAP MM Functional Lead to guide the design and delivery of SAP Materials Management solutions across ECC, S/4HANA, and third‑party procurement platforms. You will own end-to-end Procure-to-Pay processes and drive solution architecture in complex landscapes.

The role requires hands‑on configuration, fit‑gap analysis, integration design, and collaboration with business and IT stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead SAP MM functional activities across end-to-end implementations, rollouts, and integration engagements.
• Own functional design for Procure-to-Pay processes, including PR, sourcing/RFQ, PO, contracts, scheduling agreements, approvals, goods receipt, and invoice verification.
• Conduct discovery sessions, requirement-gathering workshops, fit-gap analysis, and solution-design discussions with business and IT stakeholders.
• Define SAP MM configuration, procurement process controls, validations, and business requirements.
• Assess existing SAP landscapes and define integration touchpoints, data flows, and system responsibilities.
• Define integration requirements across SAP ECC/S4HANA, SAP FI/AP, SAP SD/PP/MRP/WM/EWM, and external interfaces.
• Identify standard SAP capabilities versus enhancements or custom development.
• Define integration approaches using SAP APIs, OData/REST, SOAP, BAPI, IDoc, RFC, CPI.
• Ensure designs align with clean-core principles and standard integration practices.
• Prepare design documents, functional specs, interface mappings, configuration docs, test strategies, and cutover plans.
• Coordinate with ABAP, middleware, and integration teams throughout design, development, and deployment.
• Lead SIT and support UAT, regression testing, defect resolution, cutover, production deployment, and post-go-live stabilization.
• Troubleshoot complex SAP MM functional and integration issues; mentor junior consultants.

Role & responsibilities

The SAP MM Functional Lead will lead functional design and delivery of SAP Materials Management solutions across implementation, rollout, and integration programs. The role requires strong hands-on experience in SAP MM configuration, end-to-end Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes, solution design, and integration across SAP ECC, S/4HANA, and third-party procurement platforms.

The role will drive requirement gathering, fit-gap analysis, solution architecture, functional specifications, and integration design while ensuring alignment with SAP standard capabilities, clean-core principles, and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead System Integration Testing (SIT) and support UAT, regression testing, defect resolution, cutover, production deployment, and post-go-live stabilization.
• Troubleshoot complex SAP MM functional and integration issues across business and technical layers.
• Mentor junior consultants and independently manage customer-facing discussions and stakeholder expectations.

Required Skills & Experience

• 810 years of experience in SAP MM consulting, including strong implementation and solution-design expertise.
• Experience in at least 2–3 end-to-end SAP implementations or rollouts; implementation experience is mandatory.
• Strong hands-on SAP MM configuration and functional solution-design experience.
• Deep understanding of Procure-to-Pay processes and procurement master and transactional data.
• Strong knowledge of SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Comprehensive understanding of procurement processes, including purchasing, purchasing organizations, purchasing groups, purchase orders, contracts, scheduling agreements, goods movements, and invoice verification.
• Strong understanding of integration with SAP FI/AP, SD, PP/MRP, and WM/EWM.
• Good knowledge of SAP integration technologies, including IDoc, BAPI, RFC, OData, APIs, and web services.
• Experience defining functional requirements and interface specifications for SAP and third-party procurement or enterprise platforms.
• Strong understanding of integration architecture, data flows, interface mappings, and system responsibilities.
• Experience preparing functional specifications, solution-design documents, configuration documentation, and test plans.
• Proven experience leading SIT/UAT, cutover activities, defect resolution, and post-go-live stabilization.
• Strong business-process understanding, stakeholder-management, and cross-functional coordination skills.

Good to Have

• Experience in multiple SAP S/4HANA implementation or transformation programs.
• Knowledge of SAP Business Partner (BP) and Customer/Vendor Integration (CVI).
• Experience with SAP Fiori procurement applications.
• Exposure to SAP Integration Suite/Cloud Integration (CPI) and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
• Experience integrating SAP with sourcing, supplier-management, and procurement platforms.
• Knowledge of SAP clean-core principles, extensibility options, and standard API usage.
