Job summary

Opella in Hyderabad is seeking a SAP Developer to drive S/4HANA ABAP development excellence. You will establish standards, build reusable objects in CDS and ABAP, and guide architecture across UX and Fiori/UI5.

You will lead technical strategy, support BAU and project developments, and upskill the team through documentation and knowledge sharing while maintaining high-quality code with governance tools. The ideal candidate is collaborative, hands-on, and ready to mentor others.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6+ years SAP ABAP development including S/4HANA implementation experience.
• Expertise in CDS, Workflow, ABAP OO, ODATA, FORMs, Enhancements and Interfaces is mandatory.
• Knowledge of SAP BTP, CAP developments is a plus.
• Familiarity with ITIL/ServiceNow/SolMan/JIRA.
• Strong Scrum/Agile and Digital methodologies understanding.

Responsibilities

• Define development standards for S4HANA ABAP, CDS, ODATA, HANA, Fiori/UI5 and BTP CAP developments.
• Develop reusable CDS/ABAP objects to save time and reduce code redundancy.
• Maintain best practices for FIORI system architecture and development setup guidelines.
• Propose UX designs for FMCH solutions and use latest features in UX implementations.
• Propose technical solutions and resolve defects for ABAP RICEFW in BAU and projects.
• Identify issues, prioritize with stakeholders, and drive closure in production environments.
• Utilize development and code quality tools such as ATC, VForge, Code Inspector.
• Ensure solution documentation and knowledge transfer within the team.

About the Job

This role is responsible for driving SAP S/4HANA ABAP development excellence by establishing best practices, standards, and reusable solutions across technologies like ABAP OO, CDS, OData, HANA, Fiori/UI5, and BTP CAP. The position involves designing scalable technical solutions, resolving defects, enhancing UX, and ensuring high-quality code through governance tools. It also includes leading technical strategy, supporting project and BAU developments, managing system architecture, and enabling team capability through documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous upskilling.

Main responsibilities:

• Build development best practices, support to define standards and norms for S4HANA developments on ABAP OO, RICEFW, CDS, ODATA, HANA, Fiori/UI5 developments, as well as BTP CAP developments.
• Ability to develop reusable objects in CDS, ABAP methods, Functional modules, custom BAPIs that would save development time and redundancy of code.
• Responsible for maintenance of best practices of the FIORI system architecture, development setup guidelines.
• Responsible for proposing best in class UX design for our FMCH solutions and bringing in the latest and optimal features, tools in UX implementation.
• Ability to propose technical solutions, resolve technical defects, support for technical solutioning for ABAP RICEFW Objects in BAU and projects.
• Propose strategy to identify issues and prioritize by engaging with relevant stakeholders, align on action plans to drive to closure of fixing the issue for production environments.
• Expertise on usage of Development and Code quality tools such as ATC, VForge, Code inspector.
• Ensure solution documentation & capitalization of knowledge, ability to organize knowledge transfer within a team and upskilling as required.

About You:

• Minimum 6+ years of hands-on work experience on SAP ABAP Development, including experience in SAP S4HANA implementation and lifecycle projects.
• Expertise in CDS, Workflow, ABAP OO, ODATA, FORMs, Enhancements and Interfaces is mandatory.
• Understanding of SAP BTP, CAP developments are added advantage.
• Knowledge in IT service management and tools (ITIL, ServiceNow, Solman, JIRA).
• Knowledge in Scrum, Agile and Digital methodologies.
• At ease with Microsoft Office tools and having good presentation skills.
• Knowledge of technical development trends and roadmap in SAP.

• ABAP on S4HANA, RICEFW Developments, Workflow and BRF+, Strong ABAP OO, CDS, Native HANA, SAP BTP, ABAP Development Tools (ADT), Code Performance Rules and Optimization, database Procedures, SAP FIORI Architecture.
• Strong understanding of Integration technologies (ALE/RFC/Idocs, Webservices, OData, Tibco, Informatica, RFC/IDoc, SOAP, RESTful).

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.E.) or equivalent in Information Technology or Engineering
