Sonny's Enterprises Inc. - Conveyorized Car Wash Equipment Leader seeks an experienced SAP Basis lead to own ECC and S/4HANA environments across databases. You will drive transports, system changes, and governance, ensuring high availability and performance while leading incident response and DR readiness.

The role requires hands-on expertise with SAP HANA, kernel upgrades, and lifecycle management, plus comfort with on-call responsibilities to maintain business continuity.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• End-to-end SAP Basis ownership across ECC, S/4HANA, and databases.
• Operate as primary technical authority for SAP platform operations.
• Manage transports, changes, cutovers, and release execution.
• Plan kernel upgrades, notes, and support package adoption.
• Oversee backup, DR readiness, and system resilience.
• Monitor performance, jobs, dumps, locks, and DB health.
• Coordinate integrations with external platforms and APIs.
• Attend on-call rotations for outages and critical incidents.

Job description

• Serve as the single point of accountability for all SAP Basis operations across ECC and S/4HANA
• Ensure high availability, stability, and performance of SAP systems and databases
• Independently manage and execute all transports, system changes, and technical operations
• Minimize production issues through proactive monitoring and root cause resolution
• Successfully support S/4HANA transformation and dual landscape operations (ECC + S/4)
• Maintain full ownership of system governance, documentation, and audit readiness

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

End-to-End SAP Basis Ownership

• Own and execute all SAP Basis activities across SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, and related databases
• Operate as a self-sufficient Basis expert with minimal reliance on internal resources
• Serve as the primary technical authority for all SAP platform operations

SAP System Administration & Operations

• Administer SAP systems including:
• Application servers and instances
• Client management and system configurations
• Background job scheduling and management
• Ensure consistent system performance, uptime, and reliability across all environments

Transport & Change Management (Full Ownership)

• Independently manage entire transport lifecycle across DEV, QA, and PROD
• Ensure proper sequencing, dependency management, and release execution
• Plan and execute cutover activities for releases, patches, and emergency fixes
• Enforce strict change control and governance standards
• Perform continuous system monitoring (performance, jobs, dumps, locks, database health)
• Diagnoses and resolve:
• Work process issues (SM50/SM66)
• Performance bottlenecks (ST03, DB tools)
• Act as the first and primary responder for all SAP Basis-related incidents
• Lead root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes

SAP Landscape Lifecycle Management

• Plan and execute:
• Kernel upgrades and patching
• SAP Notes and support package implementation
• Manage system refreshes, client copies, and environment synchronization
• Support S/4HANA migration and ongoing dual-system operations

Database & HANA Administration

• Manage and monitor all associated databases, including SAP HANA and any underlying DB platforms
• Performance monitoring
• Backup coordination and recovery support
• Capacity planning and optimization
• Ensure database stability aligned with SAP application performance

Integration & Interface Stability

• Monitor and support technical connectivity across:
• IDocs, RFCs, APIs, and middleware integrations
• Troubleshoot failures impacting integrations with external platforms (e.g., eCommerce, Salesforce, payment systems)
• Ensure stable communication between SAP and connected systems

Disaster Recovery & System Resilience

• Own and execute backup and recovery procedures
• Support and validate disaster recovery readiness
• Participate in DR testing and ensure system recoverability

Vendor Coordination (Escalation-Only Model)

• Engage external Basis vendors only for emergencies or specialized support
• Retain full ownership of issue identification, coordination, and resolution
• Ensure vendor deliverables meet internal standards and timelines

On-Call & Emergency Support

• Participate in on-call rotation to support:
• Urgent patching activities
• Production outages and critical incidents
• System recovery and emergency fixes
• Provide after-hours and weekend support when required to ensure business continuity
• Identify opportunities to improve automation, monitoring, and system performance
• Standardize and streamline Basis processes across ECC and S/4HANA
• Reduce operational risk through proactive system management

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

• 7–12 years of hands-on SAP Basis experience
• Proven experience as a lead or sole Basis administrator responsible for full system ownership
• Strong expertise supporting SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA environments
• Mandatory experience with SAP HANA and underlying databases
• Deep experience with:
• Transport management
• System monitoring and troubleshooting
• SAP upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
• Experience supporting production environments with on-call responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting S/4HANA conversions or brownfield/greenfield implementations
• Exposure to SAP on cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, RISE with SAP)
• Familiarity with integration environments (CPI, middleware, APIs)
• Experience operating in lean teams with high ownership expectations
