Job summary

HPR Erectors invites applications for a Safety Officer to oversee safety on project sites, identify unsafe acts and advise on safe work practices. The role involves monitoring ongoing construction activities and ensuring adherence to safety standards across erection, testing and maintenance tasks.

The candidate should have an engineering background and a formal Industrial Safety qualification, with fluency in Oriya and Hindi and proficiency in English reading/writing.

Qualifications

• Must hold a engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, metallurgy, chemical or construction management.
• Must possess a full-time Industrial Safety degree/diploma (PDIS/ADIS) from recognised institutes.
• Fluency in Oriya and Hindi; ability to read and write in English.

Responsibilities

• Identify unsafe acts/conditions and advise on safe work methods.
• Monitor project activities for safety, including construction, erection, testing and maintenance.
• Review HIRA/JSA, risk assessments and method statements; suggest improvements.

Education

Engineering degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Civil/Metallurgy/Chemical/Construction Management

Industrial Safety degree/diploma (PDIS & ADIS)

05Education:

Must be at least a graduate in engineering in Mechanical/Electrical/ Civil/ Metallurgy/ Chemical /Construction Management from a recognized institution.

Must possess a degree or diploma (full-time course) in Industrial Safety (PDIS & ADIS) from CLI/RLI / AICTE recognised Institutes of SCTEVT of the state Govt./other state council-recognised institutions.

Must have worked for 5 years or more as on the date of deployment in the field of power plant/Steel Industries/Aluminium Refractories /Port/Petrochem/cement factory in the HSE function.

Must be fluent in Oria and Hindi in speaking, reading, and writing and in English in reading and writing

Role & responsibilities

Safety Officer

As per the direction of the EIC/concerned NTPC representative, the Safety Officer shall regularly visit the respective project/work areas to identify Unsafe Acts, Unsafe Conditions, hazardous practices and potential risks, advise the executing agency on safe work methodology, and immediately bring all major deviations to the notice of the concerned EIC/NTPC Safety Department.

Monitoring of Project Activities: The Safety Officer shall monitor and guide all ongoing construction, erection, installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance and associated project activities from human safety, equipment safety and occupational health perspectives.

HIRA/JSA and Method Statement: The Safety Officer shall review the HIRA, JSA, Risk Assessment, Method Statement, Safe Operating Procedure and Work Instruction prepared for respective activities and advise the contractor/EIC regarding necessary modifications, additional control measures and implementation of the hierarchy of controls.

Preferred candidate profile :-

Engineering in Mechanical/Electrical/ Civil/ Metallurgy/ Chemical /Construction Management + Must possess a degree or diploma (full-time course) in Industrial Safety (PDIS & ADIS) from CLI/RLI / AICTE recognized Institutes of SCTEVT of the state Govt./other state council-recognized institutions. + 05 years
