Overview
As a Safety Officer site operations comply with all safety laws, internal policies, and industry s best practices. Your role is to oversee risk assessments, enforce safety protocols, lead incident investigations, and mentor the safety supervisor / team. You will play a key role in maintaining a high level of safety performance on a high-rise residential project, minimizing risk, and promoting safety culture.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in engineering / occupational health & safety / environmental science or related field. Diploma acceptable with strong experience.
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience in safety roles in construction, preferably with 2+ years in high-rise residential or similar projects.
- Certifications preferred: NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent safety qualification.
- Good technical knowledge of construction safety norms in India heights, scaffolding, cranes, formwork, structural safety, electrical safety, fire safety, etc
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain full compliance with statutory safety regulations (central + state / local), building codes, and corporate safety standards specific to high-rise residential construction.
- Conduct regular and rigorous risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and hazard identifications (eg work at heights, fa ade, formwork, scaffolding, lifting operations).
- Lead safety audits and inspections (internal and external), identify gaps, propose corrective action plans, and follow up closure.
- Supervise, mentor, and coordinate with Safety Supervisors, site engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure safety measures are implemented.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, prepare incident reports, root cause analysis, and implement prevention strategies.
- Develop, plan and deliver safety training programs, inductions, toolbox talks, emergency drills (fire, evacuation, etc).
- Ensure correct usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safety tools, and ensure safety equipment is maintained, inspected, and available.
- Maintain all safety records, checklists, permits, statutory documentation. Prepare and present safety performance reports (KPIs) to the management.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, third-party safety consultants, external auditors, and facilitate external audits/inspections.
- Champion safety culture on site: promote awareness, enforce safe work practices, encourage feedback from workforce.
