Job summary

Yelu in Mumbai seeks a seasoned HSSE leader to drive strategy across country operations, translating global HSSE plans into actionable local programs and ensuring regulatory alignment. You will lead audits, risk assessments, emergency planning, and incident investigations, ensuring CAPA implementation and a strong safety culture across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Science or Engineering.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent certification.
• Lead Auditor certification preferred.
• 12–15 years HSSE experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of ISO management systems and risk management.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to operate independently in a multi-site environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of HSSE strategy, policies, and systems across country operations.
• Translate global HSSE strategy into actionable country-level plans aligned with regulations and client requirements.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and relevant safety standards.
• Drive HSSE audits, risk assessments, and emergency response planning.
• Lead incident investigations, including serious and fatal incidents, and ensure CAPA implementation.
• Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement across teams and sites.
• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on HSSE risks, policies, and operational decisions.
• Develop and coach HSSE teams, ensuring capability building and performance improvement. Monitor HSSE KPIs, report performance, and drive improvements through data insights.
• Support certification audits, documentation, and management system compliance.

The Successful Applicant

• Holds a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science or Engineering.
• Certified in safety discipline (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent).
• Certified Lead/Internal Auditor preferred.
• Brings 12-15 years of HSSE experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of ISO management systems, safety regulations, and risk management.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
• Able to operate independently in a dynamic, multi-site environment.
