Job summary

Expleo is seeking a Safety Engineer - Structural / Occupant for CAE to lead development of safety FE models and occupant simulations across full vehicle and subsystems. You will work with OEMs on safety programs, using Primer, ANSA and LS-DYNA to drive design improvements.

Ideal candidates have 3–7 years in automotive CAE, with hands-on experience in SB/5-star ratings and a postgraduate showing strong mechanics knowledge. This role is based in Chennai, working with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of relevant technical experience in Automobile industry with wide domain knowledge.
• 1-2 years hands-on experience in developing and integrating Safety FE Models (full vehicle, subsystem, component).
• 2+ years of Sled and Full Vehicle occupant simulations focused on achieving 5-star crash ratings.
• Proficiency in Primer, ANSA, and LS-DYNA is mandatory.
• Postgraduate degree preferred; strong fundamentals in Mechanics and Materials.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate Safety FE models for full vehicle, subsystems, and components.
• Perform sled and full-vehicle occupant simulations to support 5-star ratings.
• Collaborate with design engineers and OEMs on vehicle safety proposals and implementations.
• Utilize ANSA, LS-DYNA, and Primer for simulations and analyses.
• Analyze results, troubleshoot non-linear crash events and optimize designs.

Overview

Safety Engineer - Structural / Occupant - CAE

Responsibilities

Essential:

• 3-7 years of relevant technical experience in Automobile industry with widespread domain knowledge
• A foundational 1-2 years of hands-on experience in developing and integrating Safety FE Models (covering full vehicle, subsystem, and component levels).
• Additionally, 2+ years of experience performing Sled and Full Vehicle occupant simulations focused on achieving 5-star frontal or side impact ratings in global consumer safety programs (US NCAP / Euro NCAP).
• Proficiency in Primer, ANSA, and LS-DYNA is mandatory.
• Strong engineering fundamentals, with a postgraduate degree preferred
• Solid understanding of Classical and Applied Mechanics, particularly Strength of Materials
• Strong grasp of physics fundamentals and logical reasoning to predict, analyze, and troubleshoot complex non-linear crash events.

Qualifications

• B.E, B.Tech (Mechanical, Automobile), M.E, M.Tech Preferable

Essential skills

Desirable:

• Exposure to Human Body Model (HBM) based simulations in sled / vehicle level.
• Experience with scripting and AI tools is a plus.
• Good working knowledge on metals, composite parts and failure analysis
• Understanding of Cross functional performance requirements
• Experience in providing design proposals, interaction with design engineers in implementing the proposals
• Experience working with OEMs in Vehicle Safety
