Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Safety Engineer to ensure EHS compliance across project sites and support safe execution of IBMS, CCTV, and other building technology projects. The role involves audits, risk assessments, and driving a strong safety culture aligned with organizational standards.

The ideal candidate holds an engineering/EHS degree with 5+ years in safety management for construction/IBMS/MEP/data centers, and possesses strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Industrial Safety, EHS, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Safety/EHS management within construction/IBMS/ELV/MEP/data center projects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable EHS regulations, company policies, and client safety requirements.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, hazard identification, and risk assessments.
  • Implement and monitor safety management systems and safe work practices across project sites.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks, safety inductions, and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure compliance with approved safety procedures.
  • Maintain EHS records, reports, permits, and statutory documentation.
  • Work closely with project managers, site engineers, vendors, and customers to ensure safe project execution.

What You Will Do
  • The Safety Engineer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) standards across project sites.
  • The role will support safe execution of IBMS, CCTV, CFS, ACS, and other building technology projects by implementing safety practices, conducting audits, and driving a strong safety culture aligned with organizational standards.
How You Will Do It
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable EHS regulations, company policies, and client safety requirements.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, hazard identification, and risk assessments.
  • Implement and monitor safety management systems and safe work practices across project sites.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks, safety inductions, and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure compliance with approved safety procedures.

  • Support emergency preparedness planning and conduct mock drills as required.(Suggested enhancement based on standard safety practices.)
What We Look For
  • Required Bachelor\'s Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Industrial Safety, EHS, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Safety/EHS management within construction, IBMS, ELV, MEP, data center, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Preferred Certification in Industrial Safety, NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent EHS qualification.
  • Experience supporting CCTV, CFS, ACS, IBMS, or building automation projects.
  • Familiarity with client-specific EHS requirements and contractor safety management.
