Job summary

Alstom Bangalore seeks a Full-time Safety Assurance Manager to lead safety activities for CBTC projects, coordinating across engineering, RAM, cybersecurity, and quality teams. You will perform analyses, manage hazard logs, and defend safety cases with internal and external assessors.

The role requires a strong background in safety methodology, CENELEC AREMA/IEEE standards, and at least 5 years in safety assurance within rail. English technical writing is essential.

Qualifications

  • Advanced university or engineering degree (System, Electrical, Electronics, or Electromechanical).
  • Mastery of safety standards such as CENELEC (or AREMA/IEEE).
  • 5 years of experience in safety assurance, including at least 2 years in railways.
  • Experience in safety methodology and concepts/principles.
  • Proficient in English for technical documentation (reading/writing).
  • Structured and organized approach to work.
  • Proactive with urgency and ability to anticipate issues.
  • Ability to manage teams and allocate tasks effectively.
  • Strong resilience and problem-solving skills; training capability in safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating all safety assurance activities on CBTC systems for projects, per defined safety processes.
  • Performing safety analyses, managing hazard logs, and reviewing RAM, Cyber, V&V, and TC activities from a safety perspective.
  • Defining safety plans and managing workload and planning.
  • Building safety reports and cases, and defending safety arguments with assessors.
  • Organizing and attending periodic safety reviews.
  • Managing Safety Assurance Engineers involved in the project (if applicable).
  • Supporting tenders and regional centres to integrate product/system into projects.
  • Applying safety assurance methodologies, including risk acceptance criteria and verification & validation.

Role Overview

You’ll work alongside a collaborative and innovative team of professionals. You'll play a key role in ensuring the safety of CBTC signalling systems, delivering solutions that meet the highest safety standards. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Project Core Team, Engineering Metiers, Quality, RAM, Cybersecurity, and others), coordinate safety assurance activities, and much more. You'll perform safety analyses, manage hazard logs, define safety plans, build safety reports or cases, and defend safety case arguments with internal and external assessors.
