Job summary

Paychex is seeking a skilled Software Engineer 2 to join our dynamic development team in India. As a Ruby on Rails Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain web applications that support our business operations.

You will collaborate with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver quality software, write clean code, review peers, and mentor junior developers while adhering to best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of web development experience using Ruby on Rails.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
• Familiarity with MVC, RESTful, and ORM concepts.
• Proficiency in testing frameworks such as RSpec or Minitest.
• Experience with JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Relational databases knowledge (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Git version control familiarity.
• Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.

• Required Qualifications:

• Experience with front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.


• Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).


• Familiarity with version control systems like Git.


• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Desired Skills

• Experience in deploying applications using Docker or Kubernetes.


• Knowledge of cloud services, preferably AWS.


• Understanding of microservices architecture and DevOps practices.


• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.


• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.


• Familiarity with endpoint automation using Python/Selenium/Pytest.
