Core Responsibilities

• Architectural Leadership: Design and implement primary and remote data center solutions. You will utilize SQL Server Always On, clustering, and multi‑site guidelines to build a fail‑safe environment.
• Performance Engineering: Review and tune complex queries, optimize indexing strategies, and adjust server configurations. Your goal is to minimize latency and maximize throughput for critical gaming services.
• Automation & DevOps: Drive the 'Database-as-Code' philosophy by automating routine operational tasks. You will reduce manual intervention through scripting and integrated deployment pipelines.
• Monitoring & Auditing: Proactively monitor health, performance and availability. You will audit error logs and system performance metrics to identify and resolve potential bottlenecks before they impact the player experience.
• Collaborative Development: Partner with game developers to review database code and schema designs. You will ensure that new features are built on a foundation of scalable and efficient data structures.
• Lifecycle Management: Lead database upgrades, patching cycles and capacity planning initiatives. You will maintain rigorous documentation for standards and processes to ensure team‑wide consistency.
• Incident Response: Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation. As a guardian of critical platforms, you will provide expert support during high‑priority incidents to restore service and perform root‑cause analysis.

• Experience: 5+ years of demonstrable ability in Microsoft SQL Server administration and development.
• Internals Expertise: A deep understanding of SQL Server internals, including concurrency management, locking, blocking, and transaction log architecture.
