Job summary

2K Games is seeking a backend engineer to design and build robust microservices and APIs in Go or Java. You will own service domains, ensure reliability, and collaborate with product teams to translate complex requirements into scalable milestones.

Ideal candidates have 3–8 years of experience with HTTP/gRPC, Kubernetes or ECS, and hands-on cloud exposure (AWS or GCP). You will help optimize performance, reduce technical debt, and contribute to a world-class gaming platform.

Qualifications

• 3–8 years of experience designing and building backend systems and microservices using Go (Golang) or Java.
• Strong understanding of HTTP and gRPC APIs and design best practices.
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes or ECS).
• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design and query optimization.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD).
• Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts and microservice design patterns.
• Experience with AWS or GCP cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability frameworks.
• Experience with agile software development methodologies.
• Knowledge of authentication/authorization standards (OIDC, OAuth 2.0, JWT).
• Understanding of secure coding practices and compliance (GDPR, SOC 2).
• Experience with performance profiling, load testing, bottleneck analysis.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; ownership mindset and product focus.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.

What You Will Do

• Design and develop robust, scalable, and highly performant backend microservices and APIs.
• Own the maintenance and evolution of key service domains — ensuring reliability, performance, and alignment with long‑term technical strategy.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and game teams to translate complex requirements into clear technical deliverables and milestones.
• Optimize infrastructure and runtime costs to deliver a seamless player experience while maintaining operational efficiency.
• Continuously reduce technical debt by driving refactoring efforts, automating workflows, and modernizing legacy systems.

Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit

• 3–8 years of experience designing and building backend systems and microservices using Go (Golang) or Java.
• Strong understanding of transport protocols (HTTP, gRPC) and API design best practices.
• Hands‑on experience with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or Amazon ECS.
• Proficiency with both relational (RDBMS) and NoSQL databases, including schema design and query optimization.
• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD).
• Solid grasp of distributed systems concepts and microservice design patterns.
• Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability frameworks.
• Experience with agile software development methodologies.
• Knowledge of authentication and authorization standards (OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0, JWT).
• Understanding of secure coding best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2).
