Job description

The RME Coordinator leads the Reliability Maintenance Engineering function during operational shifts at AMZL facilities, reporting to the site RME Manager. In this role, they provide essential on-floor operational support and oversee third-party service providers for maintenance and facilities services.

Their responsibilities span three key work domains:

  • Managing base building equipment operation and maintenance including building structure, shelving, power distribution and allied switchgears, and HVAC systems
  • Facilities & soft services management including building hygiene, housekeeping equipment management, and employee benefits programs
  • MHE Automation & Controls including high-tech intelligent sorter and conveyors, material handling equipment, sort slides, carts, cages, trolleys, hand pallet trucks (CCTH), and control hardware/software such as PLC, HMI, SCADA, and VFDs

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, vendor management skills, and the ability to independently handle shift operations while ensuring equipment reliability and operational excellence.

Key job responsibilities
Base Building Equipment Operation & Maintenance

Execute preventive and reliability-centered maintenance on electrical systems (LV/MV breakers, relays, transformers). Respond swiftly to breakdowns with clear stakeholder communication. Support inventory shelving changes and maintain deck plates/side guards. Monitor Heat Index, coordinate with HVAC technicians on breaches, and report root causes to RME Manager. Maintain HVAC systems (chillers, pumps, AHUs) and work with BMS components (damper valves, servo actuators, BACnet protocols). Supervise PEB structure audits, manage work permits with WHS, review critical spares in APM store, and maintain facilities (washrooms, cafeteria, driver rooms) with 3P MSTs.

Facilities & Soft Services Management

Lead cleanliness operations and soft services quality assurance. Develop cleaning schedules, manage vendor relationships, and ensure safety compliance. Handle chemical/waste protocols, pest management, and system documentation (PR/PO, attendance, waste/scrap). Manage housekeeping equipment fleet (auto scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, Ride-On machines), drive cost control initiatives, and maintain horticulture/green areas.

MHE Technology & Controls

Troubleshoot PLC code, fieldbus IO, SCADA, and Warehouse Control Systems. Build/commission electrical controls and instrumentation panels. Work with industrial protocols (ProfiBus, ProfiNet, Ethernet IP) and barcode technology. Maintain schematics/SOPs, analyze metrics for optimization, and lead controls-related issue resolution within the shift team.

A day in the life

The RME Coordinator starts the shift by reviewing pending maintenance tickets, checking equipment status dashboards, and conducting handover from the previous shift. Throughout the day, they lead site inspection rounds, monitor critical area cleaning status, review housekeeping attendance and deployment, and respond to breakdown calls for MHE and base building equipment. They coordinate with vendors for service completion, process purchase orders, review pest monitoring reports, validate machinery running status, and generate performance reports.

The day ends with a review of task completion with supervisors, planning next day's resource allocation, addressing escalations, and updating compliance documentation.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology or equivalent
  • 1 to 3 years of working experience with manufacturing, commercial office, service, facilities management, or warehouse industries
  • B.E. or B.Tech. or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering or Electronics and Communication or Instrumentation and Controls
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in Electrical, IT, or working in a commercial building environment
  • 2+ years of experience working with Building Management Systems and/or electrical power monitoring systems
  • PLC programming and implementation experience with Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, or Omron
  • 1+ years of conveyors/automation/control systems maintenance experience
  • Certified in performing Low-Voltage circuit breaker maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Lock out/Tag out Training and Experience
  • Experience in facility operations including housekeeping supervision, vendor management, and documentation systems
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with ability to operate with minimal supervision
