The notification states that 2 posts are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) on a horizontal basis. The PwBD reservation details show one post each under Cat-b and Cat-c.
Candidates applying for Senior Technical Assistant must possess a Full-Time Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
The notification states that the Diploma/Degree certificate should be from an institution recognized by BTE/AICTE, a university established under an Act of the Central or State Legislature, or another institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared a deemed university under the UGC Act.
Sections A and B examination of the Institution of Engineers (India), where treated as equivalent to a degree by the Government of India and recognized by AICTE, will also be accepted. Candidates possessing higher qualifications such as a Degree or PG Degree in the same discipline are also eligible.
Candidates must have 2 years of post-qualification experience in the relevant field of Engineering.
The notification specifically states that training, except on-the-job training, internship, teaching, academic experience, fellowship and PhD research experience will not be counted as qualifying experience.
Experience claimed in the application must be supported by appropriate documents such as offer letters, joining orders, relieving letters, service certificates and relevant salary slips, wherever applicable.
For consideration against unreserved posts, General/EWS candidates and SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD candidates applying against unreserved posts must have at least 50% marks in the minimum educational qualification.
Reserved-category candidates applying against reserved posts must have at least 45% marks in the minimum qualification. The same requirements apply to candidates possessing higher qualifications in the same discipline.
The maximum age limit is 40 years.

PwBD candidates must have at least 40% of the relevant disability to claim the applicable benefit. The post has been identified as suitable for specified locomotor and hearing impairment categories subject to the prescribed functional classifications and physical requirements.
The selection process primarily consists of a Written Test followed by Document Scrutiny. RITES may also conduct an interview depending on its requirement and discretion.
The written examination will contain 125 objective-type questions, with each question carrying one mark. The duration of the examination is 2.5 hours.
There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. PwBD candidates are eligible for 50 minutes of compensatory time.
A minimum of 50% marks for UR/EWS and 45% marks for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD candidates against reserved posts is required in the written test to be considered for further selection.
Based on the written test result and the number of vacancies, documents submitted by candidates will be scrutinized by RITES. Candidates must upload documents supporting the educational qualifications, experience and other claims made in the application.
Only candidates who meet the prescribed written-test qualifying marks and are shortlisted during document scrutiny will be included in the merit list. Original documents will be verified at the time of joining, and failure to produce valid originals can result in cancellation of candidature and offer.

The syllabus includes number system, arithmetic, geometry, algebra, series, trigonometry, quadratic equations, mensuration, averages, profit and loss, ratio and proportion, work and time, time and distance, probability, simple and compound interest, permutation and combination and related topics.
This section tests the ability to analyze and interpret data presented through tables, charts, graphs and series.
Topics include puzzles, seating arrangements, inequalities, Venn diagrams, blood relations, directions, order and ranking, verbal reasoning, spatial abilities and pattern recognition.
This section includes current affairs, national and international events, sports, awards and recent developments, along with static GK covering Indian history, geography, polity, economy, culture, general science and miscellaneous topics.
The written test is planned at four tentative locations across India:

Candidates are required to give two preferences for their examination centre while applying. RITES will try to allot a preferred centre but reserves the right to allot a different centre. The centres and venues are tentative and may depend on the number of candidates.

The basic remuneration will be revised according to the minimum wage rates notified by the Central Government from time to time.
The appointment is purely contractual and will initially be for one year. It may be extended until completion of the assignment, subject to mutual consent and satisfactory performance.
Offers will be issued only according to project/company requirements. The notification clearly states that empanelment against a vacancy does not guarantee selection or a right to a job in RITES.
Selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India according to company requirements. Services may be terminated without notice or pay in lieu in cases such as unsatisfactory performance, inappropriate conduct, wrongdoing or discontinuation of services by the client.
