What role you will play in our team
We are seeking qualified and experienced individuals to provide Riser Engineering technical support and expertise to oil and gas development projects and production operations. The candidate will be part of ExxonMobil’s Pipelines & Risers team in ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering Company, working out of the Bangalore Campus (Prestige Shantiniketan) in India. Responsibilities include working with multidisciplinary deepwater SURF teams to execute and/or steward riser design and engineering activities across project development, execution, and operations phases.
What you will do
- Develop, specify, and apply riser system design criteria for a wide variety of activities, developments, and operations, i.e., large-scale deepwater capital projects, R&D programs, and offshore installation activity opportunities.
- Get involved in various riser, flexibles or umbilicals engineering activities for deepwater projects from concept evaluation and selection to installation to commissioning and start up.
- Execute and/or oversee riser analysis studies (conducted by ExxonMobil internal resources and/or third-party companies) to support riser system design (i.e., strength, fatigue, interference).
- Evaluate strengths and shortcomings of different riser design philosophies.
- Lead revisions to company standards and/or industry practices.
- Interface with engineers from other disciplines (e.g., marine, pipelines, flow assurance, materials) to align on work scopes and work products.
- Interface with suppliers, contractors and other third parties to ensure work products are in alignment with ExxonMobil expectations.
- Participate in offshore industry activities such as conferences and committees.
- Field visits to project locations, vendor premises, production units, etc.
- Participate in risk assessments, technology evaluations / selections, and fitness for service assessments.
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering – preferably in Mechanical, Civil, Marine Engineering or related disciplines with minimum GPA 7.0.
- 3-15 years of experience in Riser Engineering. The experience should include primarily dynamic riser system development or engineering support, at some of the following stages of project:
- Concept selection/FEED/Detail Engineering
- Manufacturing/Fabrication
- Installation
- Testing
- Integrity Management
- Demonstrated experience can include:
- Rigid, flexible, hybrid risers and/or dynamic umbilical systems
- Either of these riser system configurations: single hybrid risers, lazy-wave or catenary configurations
- Dynamic riser analysis in industry standard FE software such as OrcaFlex, ABAQUS or similar. Analysis experience should be detailed as follows:
- Strength analysis due to Wave/Vessel motion
- Fatigue analyses due to Wave/Vessel motion, VIV etc.
- Interference
- Installation
- Local analyses for Flexible/Umbilical
- Experience in leading or coordinating work of other riser engineers and interfacing with internal/external client would be a bonus.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally as per business needs (<10%).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs.
- Strong listening, verbal & written communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with ability to mentor others and work with globally diverse business teams.
Work in shift: 1.30 PM – 10.30 PM IST
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
- Preferred – Working knowledge of applying riser engineering codes & standards, such as API or DNV (e.g., API 2RD, 17J etc.).
- Preferred – strong leadership, communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
