Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled RF Antenna Engineer to design, analyze, simulate, test, and optimize antenna systems for high-performance RF applications. The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of antenna types, simulation tools, and measurement techniques. You will work closely with RF, mechanical, and systems engineers to deliver antenna solutions for defence platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop antennas including patch, monopole, dipole, LPDA, helical, Yagi, horn, or phased arrays.
- Perform full-wave EM simulations using tools like HFSS, CST, FEKO, ADS, or COMSOL.
- Conduct impedance matching, gain optimization, polarization tuning, and bandwidth enhancement.
- Integrate antennas into RF systems and platforms, considering mechanical and environmental constraints.
- Characterize antenna performance through measurements (VSWR, S11, gain, radiation pattern, isolation) using VNA, anechoic chambers, and test ranges.
- Work with cross-functional teams (RF, PCB, mechanical, systems) for co-design and integration.
- Generate design documentation, technical reports, and participate in reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or master's degree in Electronics, RF/Microwave Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory and antenna principles.
- Proficiency in EM simulation tools: HFSS, CST, FEKO, etc.
- Experience with RF test equipment: VNA, spectrum analyzer, anechoic chambers.
- Knowledge of RF system-level behavior including matching networks, filters, and transmission lines.
- Familiarity with antenna material properties, substrates (e.g., FR4, RO4350B, Duroid), and radome considerations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in designing antennas for 5G, Wi-Fi, GNSS, IoT, UAV, or satellite applications.
- Experience with phased arrays, beamforming, or electronically steered antenna (ESA).
- Familiarity with PCB layout tools (Altium, KiCAD) and co-simulation.
- Programming experience (Python, MATLAB) for data analysis and automation.
- Hands-on prototyping skills and experience working with manufacturing partners.
