Job summary

Citi Research in Mumbai is seeking a Senior Associate to join the Global Research Center. The role involves building and maintaining excel models for coverage, collaborating with Beverages & Tobacco team, and supporting new product development in a fast-paced, international environment.

Ideal candidates have 4–7 years in equity research, at least 3 years in equity research, CFA preferred, strong data management and advanced Excel skills, and the ability to work under pressure with overseas

Qualifications

• 4–7 years total experience in equity research or related field.
• At least 3 years of equity research experience.
• CFA certification preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience in Consumer Staples sector is a plus.
• Strong financial modeling and data management skills.
• Exposure to AI tools for data handling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain Excel models for companies under coverage.
• Create and maintain models for industry sub-sectors.
• Manage team data products and ensure data integrity.
• Track sector news and analyze periodic data.
• Collaborate with offshore colleagues to exchange information.
• Perform background analysis for company/themes under coverage.
• Maintain research products like dailies and notes.
• Handle ad hoc client requests and deadlines.
• Assist in initiating coverage on new stocks.
• Support development of new research products.

The Global Research Center (GRC) of Citi Research in Mumbai is a full research office working with Equities Research, Fixed Income Research, Commodities Research, Rates and Structured Products Research and Equity Quant Research. It also handles various critical functions such as Supervisory Analyst, Research Distribution, Modeling and Risk Management.

The successful candidate will join Citi Research’s Global Research Center in Mumbai and will work directly with Citi’s Beverages & Tobacco Analyst.

The Sr. Associate will work closely with Beverages & Tobacco team. The responsibilities include:

• Creation and maintenance of excel models for companies under coverage
• Creation and maintenance of excel models for industry sub-sectors
• Manage team data products
• Tracking of sector news and analysis of periodic statistical data
• Constant collaboration / information exchange with fellow associates.
• Background analysis as a part of active research on a company / theme
• Maintenance of research products such as Dailies, preview notes and results notes.
• Completion of ad hoc client requests, often to deadlines
• Assistance in initiation of coverage on new stocks
• Support in developing new products

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

• 4-7 years of total experience
• Prior equity research experience of 3 years
• CFA certification is preferred but not a mandate
• Prior experience in the Consumer Staples sector is preferred but not a mandate
• Good data management and analysis skills and a high degree of comfort with Excel; should be comfortable in maintaining and updating existing models and databases.
• Some prior exposure to working with AI tools to manage data sets
• Strong financial modeling skills, including full company modelling experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills for dealing with overseas colleagues.
• Ability to work under pressure, with minimal supervision, and in a team environment.
• Detail-oriented, Process driven with strong organizational and execution skills
• The candidate should be a pragmatic "self-starter” who can work both independently if the analyst is traveling or as part of a team.

• Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience/ Master's Degree
