Job summary

Google DeepMind in Bengaluru seeks a Research Scientist to advance autonomous agents via reinforcement learning and ML optimization. You will lead development of LLM-enabled agents, explore novel algorithmic architectures, and collaborate across research fields to answer core ML and AI questions.

You will contribute to foundational models while ensuring safety, ethics, and broad societal benefits as part of a pioneering AI lab with impact on billions of users.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, AI, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with ML frameworks (JAX, TensorFlow, or PyTorch).
• Experience with advanced deep learning and reinforcement learning.
• Publication record in ML conferences or journals (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, KDD, AAAI).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evaluate models, agents, and software prototypes of large foundational models.
• Push the boundary of reinforcement learning and ML optimization to build autonomous agents.
• Report and present research findings clearly and efficiently both internally and externally.

We are seeking a highly motivated and Research Scientist to join our team in Bengaluru, focused on advancing in autonomous agents through reinforcement learning and ML optimization methods.

In this role, you will conduct research on large language models (LLMs), focusing on the development of more capable autonomous agents. You will lead our efforts in developing novel algorithmic architecture towards the end goal of solving and building Artificial General Intelligence. You will work collaboratively within and across Research fields, and will develop solutions to fundamental questions in machine learning and AI.
