Job summary

Symbiosis Skills & Professional University seeks a senior academic to shape policy, governance and the research roadmap across the university. You will guide leadership on academic and institutional policy, while building a robust research ecosystem and overseeing regulatory processes.

You will draft policies, interpret regulatory frameworks, coordinate with departments and centres, and foster industry collaborations to elevate research quality, output and visibility.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a relevant discipline from a recognised University/Institution is mandatory.
• Minimum 10 years in higher education, university administration, research management or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of Indian higher education, regulatory frameworks, governance, policy drafting and strategic institutional planning.

Responsibilities

• Advise University leadership on academic, research and institutional policy matters.
• Support the development of a strong and sustainable research ecosystem and governance framework.
• Provide strategic inputs on University establishment, governance, academic structures and statutory processes.
• Interpret UGC, AICTE, Ministry of Education, ANRF, DST and other regulatory frameworks.
• Draft and review University policies, ordinances, regulations, guidelines and SOPs.
• Advise on the constitution, roles and functioning of statutory, academic and research bodies.
• Develop frameworks for research, innovation, consultancy, sponsored research and collaborations.
• Support policies relating to IPR, technology transfer, research ethics and academic integrity.
• Identify opportunities for funded research, research centres and national/international collaborations.
• Strengthen industry–academia partnerships and interdisciplinary research initiatives.
• Monitor changes in higher education and research regulations and advise on institutional implications.
• Benchmark established universities and research institutions for policy and system development.
• Support regulatory approvals, inspections, accreditation, rankings and institutional assessments.
• Develop institutional frameworks for improving research quality, output and visibility.
• Provide inputs for enhancing research funding, publications, patents and technology transfer.
• Coordinate with academic schools, departments, research centres and administrative teams.
• Prepare policy papers, proposals, briefing notes, analytical reports and recommendations for leadership.
