The Research Associate is a full-time entry-level position, ideal for a recent graduate or a candidate with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in medical devices, biomedical engineering, medical imaging, diagnostics, digital health, healthcare research, life sciences, market intelligence, or a related field.

The associate will support the Medical Devices & Imaging cluster by conducting primary and secondary research, tracking technology and innovation signals, evaluating companies and ecosystems, and developing high-quality client deliverables. The role requires the ability to understand both the technical and business dimensions of healthcare innovation and translate complex evidence into clear implications, growth opportunities, and actionable recommendations.

  • Surgical robotics, image-guided interventions, navigation and visualization technologies
  • Minimally invasive devices, endoscopy and interventional technologies
  • Implantable, bioelectronic, neuromodulation and drug-delivery devices
  • Personalized, home-based, virtual and decentralized care technologies
  • Rehabilitation, assistive, ophthalmic, hearing and vision-care technologies
  • Smart materials, sensors, microfluidics, electronics and manufacturing enablers for medical devices
Responsibilities
Research and Analysis
  • Monitor and analyze emerging technologies, clinical innovations, product developments, regulatory milestones, patents, scientific publications, funding activity, partnerships, acquisitions, and commercialization signals across medical devices and imaging.
  • Conduct structured secondary research using peer-reviewed literature, clinical-trial registries, patent databases, company disclosures, regulatory databases, government and health-agency publications, conference materials, and credible industry sources.
  • Support primary research through interviews with clinicians, researchers, device manufacturers, technology developers, startups, investors, healthcare providers, and other subject matter experts.
  • Assess technology readiness, clinical utility, unmet need, differentiation, adoption potential, regulatory considerations, reimbursement context, scalability, and commercial relevance.
  • Develop technology landscapes, value-chain maps, ecosystem assessments, company profiles, innovation benchmarks, and opportunity-prioritization frameworks.
  • Identify emerging signals and technology convergence across medical devices, imaging, AI, sensors, microelectronics, materials, advanced manufacturing, and digital health.
  • Evaluate innovations across the care continuum, including pre-hospital, hospital, post-acute, remote, and home-based care settings.
  • Analyze the implications of emerging technologies for R&D strategy, product portfolios, partnerships, market entry, care pathways, and future growth.
  • Maintain research trackers and evidence repositories with strong source traceability, data accuracy, and consistent taxonomy.
