Job summary

Osborn Lippert in India seeks a chemical formulations specialist to lead the development of metal polishing compounds and related products. The role focuses on creating novel formulations, evaluating raw materials, and ensuring compliance with ROHS/REACH standards.

You will train production teams, support R&D lab setup, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to tailor formulations for different market segments, including cost-effective and premium offerings.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Formulation of compositions such as Bar soaps and Shampoos.
• Knowledge of Surfactant chemistry (colloidal, interfacial science, liquid crystalline phase).
• Chemical properties of binders & abrasive alumina.

Responsibilities

• Formulation and development of Metal Polishing compounds (Solid bars & Liquid paste).
• Analysis of properties of raw materials used in new product development.
• Formulating and Process development of new or existing products.
• Feasibility analysis of new product formulations and processes.
• Should have good knowledge of setting up of R&D centre or R&D Lab.
• In charge of Chemicals testing lab and performing testing activity of compounds as well as materials.
• Drafting and finalizing MSDS for various compositions and ensuring ROHS/REACH compliance.
• Training Production team about newly developed products and process controls.
• Pilot plant set-up to facilitate bar processing and smooth operation.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Formulation and development of Metal Polishing comppounds (Solid bars & Liquid paste).
• Analysis of various properties of raw materials used in new product development.
• Formulating and Process development of new or existing products.
• Feasibility analysis of new product formulations and processes.
• Should have good knowledge of setting up of R&D centre or R&D Lab.
• In charge of Chemicals testing lab and performing testing activity of compounds as well as materials.
• Formulating and processing of Solid polishing Composition bars, Liquid Polishing Composition pastes and ancillary products.
• Should be adept to making new formulations to suit different market segments such as cost effective segment or premium quality compositions segment or segments in between.
• Should have knowledge of availability of different R/M for development of new compounds & cost reduction of existing compounds.
• Technology development through Open innovation/partners to win market opportunities
• Drafting and finalizing the MSDS required for various type of Compositions (Liquid or Solid) and making the necessary update as and when required. Should be able to produce documents for compliance with ROHS / REACH and such International regulations.
• Making sure the EHOS aspect and impact while developing new products and updating the same into MSDS.
• Training Production team about newly developed products and process controls.
• HAZOP study for new process and commissioning
• Pilot plant set-up to facilitate bar processing and smooth operation

Equipment selection, sizing, designing

• Co-ordination of vendors for specifications and procurement Making sure the EHOS aspect and impact while developing new products and updating the same into MSDS.
• Desirable: Fabric processing chemistry knowledge and ability to create / improve formulations to change fabric stiffness properties.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

Knowledge: - 1. Strong technical knowledge about Formulation of Compositions such as Bar soaps and Shampoos.

2. Must be well conversant with Surfactant chemistry (e.g., colloidal, and interfacial science, liquid crystalline phase), Oil & Fat Chemistry and most importantly, Abrasive Chemistry.

2. Posses good Analytical Skills on various chemicals, Edible oil, Fat etc.

3. Chemical properties of binders & abrasive alumina.

4. Development of new products by various new formulations.

5. Knowledge of availability of different R/M for product development.

6. Should have knowledge of uses of various Analytical and testing equipments.

7. EOHS Awareness

Skills: - 1. Good Analysis Skill.

2. Ability to closely coordinate with a multi-cultural, multi-national team of colleagues in similar profession.

3. Ability to visit customers to understand requirements of our products, make formulations to suit the same, develop, test first in house and then at customer end.
