Job summary

Citi in Mumbai seeks a senior Head of Regulatory Reporting to lead the Market Ops India unit with deep knowledge of Treasury products and local regulations. You will drive planning, budgeting and policy execution while coordinating with business and technology teams to deliver timely regulatory reports.

The role requires extensive people management experience, strong communication skills, and a track record in managing complex regulatory programs and audits.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience including managing large teams.
  • Senior to advanced level experience in a related role with commensurate experience in people management preferred.
  • Experience in management with Banking and Financial Institutions preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of opportunities that exist within Financial Services and significant experience in Corporate Banking.
  • Demonstrated success coordinating with senior leadership and in managing others.
  • Proven ability to manage various concurrent activities/projects in a high-risk environment.
  • Effective project management and negotiation skills.
  • Consistently demonstrated clear and concise written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex critical large professional disciplinary area for the regulatory reporting unit, short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources, and exercise control over resources, budget, policy formulation, planning and execution.
  • Head of Regulatory Reporting unit for Market Ops India. Requires good understanding of Treasury Products, Citi Policy and procedures and local regulatory landscape
  • Work in close coordination with Business, technology, finance, ICRM and other stakeholders to deliver regulatory reports with various defined frequencies.
  • Engagement with franchise seniors and partner units to support multiple audits/regulatory exams.
  • Engage closely with the regulators and manage new regulatory implementations, change initiatives, queries and clarifications.
  • Drive automation initiatives to strengthen the operating design with robust controls.
  • Manage complex regulatory reporting related issues, liaise with multiple teams and departments on varying matters, define problems, develop innovative solutions, streamline processes and lead changes related to regulatory reporting.
  • Closely follow trends in the industry, identify cost savings opportunities and build effective relationships with the key stakeholders and regulators.
  • Increase productivity and efficiencies by presenting data and analyzing validates to develop added solutions and oversee the integrity of process, operations and end results
  • Assist with overseeing the risk control environment, compliance efforts to follow policies and procedures and keep abreast of Citi's operational processes and best practices in business strategy
  • Filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex material from multiple sources, including external and internal operations groups
  • Serve as an advisor and coach to new or junior level staff on procedures and work processes across multiple departments
  • Engagement with regional / global functional chain towards alignment of strategic priorities and initiatives, sharing of best practices, collaboration with support teams - risk & control / technology / compliance etc.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
