Additionally, this role will give you opportunity to leverage your leadership capabilities and further grow as a finance professional.

What’s the role?

This new role has been created to lead a team that supports the Downstream Business, being accountable for all R&A processes for entities and businesses in scope.

This role reports to the R&A DS PAR Manager and leads a team of financial professionals who are accountable for the timely, complete and accurate submission of Group Financial Returns & Local Statutory for the DS Portfolio, as well as for planning, forecasting and Planning and Appraisal processes for these businesses. Key interfaces will include business Finance Managers and business leaders in DS, VP Finance, Performance Manager/Controller, PAR Advisors DS, Group Reporting, R&A Process Owner and Process Excellence organisations and R&A DS Community.

  • Lead a team of finance professionals of up to 10 people, providing e2e R&A support, i.e. Controlling, Accounting and Reporting, including MI, with first‑time‑right reporting and providing quality insights for the assets in scope.
  • Represent FO R&A to the Business Finance leaders and act as an interface point for DS LT and Business leaders as required.
  • Own the Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reporting processes for the business in scope.
  • Own and resolve reporting issues providing steer to stakeholders on financial queries.
  • Own and ensure efficiency of R&A process as well as effectiveness of underlying financial control framework in the area of responsibility.
  • Support the preparation of the annual Business Plan and related assessments to ensure a sound submission including operational, economic and financial KPIs.
  • Ensure delivery of the quarterly latest estimates process for the business in scope.
  • Ensure that performance is well analysed and explained in the periodic management information packs (delivery through team).
  • Deepen insightful analysis which incorporates external perspective, to support decision‑making and drive the performance improvement agenda.
  • Contribute to the preparation of performance overviews and appraisals.
  • Provide ad‑hoc analysis as required for leadership teams, including insights on financials/results, and specific performance measures.
  • Develop productive relationships with key stakeholders, to deepen the team's understanding of underlying issues within the line of business.
  • Ensure data confidentiality, integrity and accuracy in line with Group standards.
  • Ensure full and quality support for internal audits and reviews (controls, financials, SIA and other); co‑owning the end results and driving improvement and completing remediation actions.
  • Ensure effective team management, focussed on sustainable delivery and high team engagement.
  • Where relevant coach other team members in areas of expertise. Build team capability and expertise.
  • Support global initiatives and projects in the PAR and controllership space, including new systems implementation. Champion and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
What do we need from you?

To be successful in this role you need a proven ability to work effectively across organisational boundaries, bringing different views together, finding an aligned approach forward, manage a wide agenda and effectively deal with conflicting priorities.

Qualifications
  • An accounting qualification with 10 years or more experience in financial reporting.
  • University degree in a finance related discipline with preference for a professional qualification and/or certification like CIMA, MBA, etc.
  • Experience of working in a highly dynamic, or start‑up environment, dealing with ambiguity and managing change, providing direction and structure.
  • Strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills with an ability to influence; overcome barriers and resistance; communicate effectively at all levels in the organization and to work towards joint ownership towards a common goal.
  • Experience with leading teams and/or project teams, effectively assigning and coordinating the work across various team members to drive towards a successful outcome.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong delivery focus.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Strong understanding of financial and management reporting combined with the ability to easily identify value drivers and appropriate performance metrics.
  • Ability to effectively leverage a matrix organisation (FO/CoE/Business) with a focus on partnering and successful delivery.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with short deadlines and quick turnaround and still maintain an immaculate attention to detail.
