Job summary

ABB in Bengaluru is seeking a Sr Test Engineer to align feature-to-system testing across SDLC phases. The role focuses on harmonized test automation and continuous integration strategies within PCP R&D, reporting to the R&D Department Lead. The work model is hybrid in Bangalore.

Responsibilities include defining test scope, automation at all testing stages, coordinating with architects, and ensuring robust environments for efficient validation in industrial automation contexts.

Qualifications

• ABB 800xA deployment, engineering and operation experience.
• Experience in test automation and CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on with Azure Cloud, RHEL and Kubernetes advantageous.
• Knowledge of Industrial Automation systems and protocols.
• Understanding of SDLC, white/black box testing and scaled agile.

Responsibilities

• Participate in requirement analysis and ensure sustainable tests.
• Define test scope per requirement and create acceptance criteria.
• Oversee test scope across phases of the test life cycle.
• Coordinate with Test Architects to craft a system-wide test strategy.
• Maintain and manage the test plan with dependencies and constraints.
• Support development and test teams in defining environments and applications for testing.
• Drive high levels of test automation across testing stages.
• Lead root cause analysis for critical test and customer issues.

This Position reports to:

R&D Department Lead

The role of Sr Test Engineer in the PCP R&D is aimed towards synchronizing and driving 'feature to system' strategy testing across various phases of SDLC. This role will also be working for harmonized test automation and continuous feature and test integration strategy and tools.

The work model for the role is: #LI Hybrid

This role is contributing to the Process Automation Business of Process control Platform Division for Bangalore.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Participate in requirement analysis, making sure that sustainable tests are created.
• Define and communicate the test scope per requirement - by creating acceptance criteria for each.
• Overview of the test scope in various phases of test life cycle.
• Co-ordinate with various Test Architects to create a system wide test strategy.
• Manage and maintain the test plan with dependencies and constraints.
• Support all development and test teams in defining the test environments and applications suitable for efficient testing.
• Achieve high level of Test Automation at all stages of testing lifecycle.
• Drives root cause analysis for critical and most common issues found in tests and customer cases.

Qualifications:

• Thorough Knowledge of ABB 800xA System.
• At least 6-8 years of Experience in ABB 800xA Deployment, Engineering and Operation
• Experience in Cyber Security applied on Industrial Automation offerings.
• Experience in Test Automation, CI/CD Pipeline
• Experience in Azure Cloud, RHEL, Kubernetes will be added advantage
• Experience in Industrial Automation Systems and Protocols verification and validation
• Complete understanding of Software Development Life Cycle, white and black box test methodologies, Scaled Agile and Continuous Integration
• Systemic approach for analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in working with globally distributed teams and proven positive asserting skills.
