The Opportunity

Hitachi Energy India Development Centre (IDC) is a research and development facility with around 500 R&D engineers, specialists and experts who focus on creating and sustaining digital solutions, new products and technology. This includes product integration, testing, cybersecurity and certification. The IDC is situated in Chennai and Bangalore and collaborates with the R&D and Research centres of Hitachi Energy across more than 15 locations in 12 countries.

In the past 20 years, IDC has secured more than 200 international papers and 150 patents.

This team plays a key role in verifying and validating the products innovatively within bay‑level solutions ensuring top‑notch product quality. You will be involved in end‑to‑end R&D testing of bay‑level solutions and support software tools, and will work on enhancing verification and validation processes using innovative automation paradigms and tools.

How Will You Make An Impact

• Verify and validate substation automation products.
• Participate in test core team workshops to understand product test requirements and perform software/domain test activities, including design, coding and black‑box testing of software modules in line with the quality management system.
• Develop new and adaptive test cases for system and product requirements and report and verify test defect logs captured during testing.
• Partner with a variety of product stakeholder groups, including management at different levels, business analysts and developers.
• Ensure mutual consistency and efficient integration of subsystems in modular, easy‑to‑maintain and extensible software that meets the product specification.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

Your Background

• Required bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical or electronic engineering with 3–8 years of practical experience in substation automation.
• Technically sound in the field of protection and communication protocols used in substation.
• Knowledge of computer networks, OSI layers and protocols in each layer is a plus.
• Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java or C#.
• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, especially Agile methodology, is a plus.
• Effective communication skills needed to collaborate with team members.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
