TE is seeking an R&D Product Development Engineer II to design, develop, validate, and commercialize high-voltage railway products, including 25kV solutions, with cross‑functional teams worldwide.

You will use CREO, ANSYS and other tools to drive design, perform rigorous testing, and ensure compliance with IEC/EN standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 2+ years’ experience or Master’s degree in electrical engineering
Focus on low/medium voltage products or shielded cables is a plus
Self-motivated with little guidance
Strong technical writing ability and effective communication skills
Ability to interface effectively both internally and with customers
Support manufacturing throughout the production cycle, including creating testing plans and problem-solving on the manufacturing floor

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated R&D Product Development Engineer II to support the design, development, validation, and commercialization of innovative high-voltage products for railway applications. The role involves working on 25kV railway electrification solutions, collaborating with global cross-functional teams, and utilizing advanced engineering tools to develop reliable, compliant, and cost-effective products. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical engineering fundamentals, product development experience, analytical problem-solving skills, and knowledge of industry standards related to railway and power distribution systems.

Responsibilities:

Knowledge of high voltage engineering products preferably for railway system of 25kV.
Good understanding of the range of high voltage solutions for railway application.
Utilize engineering tools for intricate design and optimization of product designs, including simulation software; like CREO, PRO-E, AUTOCAD for CAD work and ANSYS, COMSOL for FEA work.
Participate in cross-functional global teams, collaborating seamlessly with professionals in sales, manufacturing, and quality assurance to meet customer needs and uphold industry standards.
Work closely with the testing team, playing a pivotal role in designing and executing product validation tests according to rigorous industry standards.
Possess good analytical skills for problem-solving in product development.
Gain and develop a working level understanding of cable accessory materials, manufacturing processes, and applications.
Working level familiarity with one more of the industry standards such as IEC 60077-4, IEC 60099-4, IEC 60502-4, IEC 62217, EN 45545, CENELEC HD629.1S2, IEC 60068 series, and their application in product development.
Actively participate in brainstorming sessions, contributing to the generation of inventive solutions to engineering challenges
Assist in the creation of technical documentation, encompassing detailed drawings, schematics, and comprehensive product specifications.
Execute Research & Development projects with precision, as per planned timeline, within prescribed budget, and logistics coordination using the efficient "Stage Gate" process.
Attend targeted professional development workshops to enhance skills in project management, communication, and leadership.
Engage proactively in networking opportunities, fostering relationships with colleagues and industry professionals for knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
