Job summary

Western Chemical seeks an experienced R&D/Product Development chemist to lead pigment, dye, and specialty chemical initiatives in India. The role focuses on developing new formulations, optimizing processes, and driving scale-up from lab to pilot and production.

You will collaborate with Production, QA/QC, Purchase, and Marketing to translate customer needs into robust products while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance across the lab and plant environment.

Qualifications

• MSc in Organic Chemistry or Chemistry, or BE/BTech in Chemical Engineering.
• Experience in R&D/product development in pigments, dyes, specialty chemicals, or chemical manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead R&D and new product development for pigments, dyes, and specialty chemicals.
• Develop and optimize formulations, processes, and products per customer/market needs.
• Conduct laboratory trials, analyze results, optimize performance, yield, and cost.
• Manage scale-up from laboratory to pilot/production and support commercialization.
• Troubleshoot quality and process issues with Production and QA/QC teams.
• Develop and maintain R&D procedures, formulations, specs, and trial reports.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and raw-material optimization.
• Guide and supervise R&D chemists/technicians and allocate project responsibilities.
• Coordinate with Production, QA/QC, Purchase, and Marketing/Sales for development and trials.
• Ensure labs comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Stay updated on new technologies, materials, and developments in pigments and dyes.

• Relevant experience in Pigments, Dyes, Specialty Chemicals, or Chemical Manufacturing preferred.

Experience:

• Relevant experience in R&D/Product Development, preferably in Pigments & Dyes manufacturing.
• Experience in scale-up from laboratory to plant production will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:
