Job summary

Michael Page is partnering with a leading chemical company to identify an experienced R&D Head in Mumbai. You will steer strategic R&D projects, drive process development, and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver commercially viable chemical processes.

The role requires deep knowledge of organic synthesis, process chemistry, and scale-up, with hands-on experience in analytical methods and patent analysis.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of organic synthesis, reaction mechanisms, process chemistry, and scale-up principles.
• Hands-on experience with analytical characterization techniques and interpretation of analytical data.
• Strong understanding of process optimization, cost reduction, and manufacturing support.
• Familiarity with intellectual property, patent analysis, and technology evaluation.
• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute R&D projects aligned with business objectives, customer requirements, and strategic growth initiatives.
• Drive innovation by generating new ideas and managing multiple strategic and business-driven development projects.
• Conduct literature reviews, patent searches, feasibility studies, and technology assessments to develop commercially viable synthetic routes.
• Design, optimize, and scale chemical processes to improve product quality, yield, safety, and cost competitiveness.
• Plan, prioritize, and allocate resources to ensure efficient execution of R&D activities and project milestones.
• Coordinate procurement of raw materials, chemicals, catalysts, analytical standards, and laboratory consumables.
• Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and rapid development solutions to business and manufacturing teams.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve process and technical challenges.
