Job summary

Hitachi Energy India Limited in Maneja, Gujarat invites a Mechanical R&D Engineer to lead the design and development of high voltage circuit breakers, leveraging CFD and thermal analysis with hands‑on design review experience.

You will collaborate with global engineering teams, apply DFMEA/DOE, and ensure compliance with IEC standards while delivering development reports, test instructions, and validated solutions that support safe, reliable power systems.

Qualifications

• B.Tech./M.Tech. in Mechanical with design focus and 4–5 years of experience.
• Experience in circuit breaker design is an added advantage.
• Creo CAD proficiency for concept and detail design.
• CFD work with Ansys Fluent for thermal/flow analyses.
• DFMEA, DFM, DFA, DMAIC, and DOE knowledge is expected.
• IEC standards and type testing for switchgear familiarity.
• Ability to work in a global environment and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to new product and core component development of HV circuit breakers with engineers.
• Perform CFD analysis using in‑house / commercial solvers.
• Contribute to mechanical design in ongoing projects.
• Perform Heat Transfer and Flow related calculations.
• Prepare development/analysis reports, assembly & test instructions, and test specs.
• Perform DFMEA, DOE, PPAP etc.
• Root cause analysis and coordination with cross functional stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations and guidelines.
• Uphold Hitachi Energy values of safety and integrity.

The Opportunity

The Opportunity As a R&D Engineer, you will play a key role as technical lead in design & development of high voltage circuit breaker. You shall demonstrate a strong Thermal and Fluid Dynamics background combined with excellent analytical and project management skills and hands‑on experience with state‑of‑the‑art design techniques.

How you’ll make an impact

• Contribute to new product and core component development of High Voltage Circuit Breakers in close cooperation with engineers and technical experts.
• Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis using in‑house /commercial solvers.
• Contribute to mechanical design aspects in the ongoing projects
• Perform Heat Transfer and Flow related calculations.
• Design documentation (Development report, analysis report, assembly & test instruction, test specification etc.)
• Perform DFMEA, DOE, PPAP etc.
• Perform root cause analysis, Coordination with various cross functional stakeholders.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

• B.Tech./M.Tech. (Mechanical, specializing in Design with 4-5 years of experience)
• Experience in Design & Development of circuit breakers is an added advantage
• Working Knowledge of 3D CAD packages (Creo preferred)
• Hands‑on experience in CFD tools – Ansys Fluent
• Working knowledge of design process/quality tools like DFMEA, DFM, DFA, DMAIC, DOE etc.
• Working knowledge of IEC standards and type testing of switchgear
• Ability to work in a global environment
• Innovative & creative thinking ability
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
