Job summary

Cummins Inc. on-site manufacturing quality role seeks a disciplined individual to ensure products on the production line meet technical specifications and traceability standards.

The candidate will perform final inspections and train teams on measurement equipment, segregation of non-conforming products, and proper documentation. Responsibilities include conducting capability studies, SPC/PPAP activities, and addressing non-conformances while driving continuous improvement through Kaizen and 5S.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; regulatory considerations may apply.
  • Experience in manufacturing quality, line inspection, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of metrology, SPC/MSA, and PPAP processes.
  • Familiarity with reading engineering drawings and using inspection tools.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting and monitoring rejection and rework PPM daily.
  • Resolving internal and external customer complaints.
  • Conducting capability studies and gauge R&R per plan; support improvement projects.
  • Maintaining SPC charts for critical/major characteristics and risk levels.
  • Completing scheduled audits and driving corrective/preventive actions.
  • Coordinating PPAP documentation for new parts or changes.
  • Initiating line stoppages and Q1 meetings for non-conformances.
  • Implementing Kaizen and 5S housekeeping initiatives.
  • Reviewing safety risk assessments for quality processes.
  • Timely disposition of non-conforming material and system compliance.

Job Summary

Ensures products received or produced meet technical specifications. Works under moderate supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verifies the final quality of products on the production line.
  • Compares the physical characteristics of components, materials, equipment and products to technical specifications to identify defects.
  • Separates products that do not have the desired technical specification, using basic and/or complex measurement techniques and equipment.
  • Documents products that do not meet technical specifications using specified systems.
  • Trains others in the use of measurement equipment, segregation of non-conforming product and documentation.
  • Follows the norms and standards of quality defined by the Company.

Experience

Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.

Job Summary
  • Work experience in Line Quality & Gauge/standard laboratory.
  • Hands on experience on Line Quality & Gauge/ Standard lab Equipments. & surface Finish testers
  • 8 . Lead seven step problem solving process and actively participate in six sigma activities
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (preferably machining)
  • Knowledge of Process and Product Audit.
  • Knowledge & ability to read and understand components engineering drawing.
  • Knowledge of inspection on hand experience on basic inspection tools
  • Knowledge of basic Statistics SPC, R&R and experience in using software like Minitab etc.
  • Ensure Zero Defect products and Processes. PPAP system knowledge.
  • Quality System Documentation as per ISO 9001-2015 and ISO/IEC17025 requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of calibration and calibration processes.
  • Final inspection of Machine Shop Parts in three Rotating Shift
  • Carrying In process Audit on Machine to ensure Quality at right first time
  • Ensure to identify the improvement avenues and work for improvement projects
Responsibilities

  • Coordination of PPAP documentation for any New Part introduction / Change in Current Part Process, Tooling etc.
  • Initiate Line stoppage and Q1 meeting for any Non Conformance / Customer complaint.
  • Implementation of New Ideas / Housekeeping through Kaizen and 5s.
  • Review Safety Risk Assessment with respect to Quality functions processes.
  • Timely Disposition of Non Conforming material and comply with system.
Skills / Competencies
  • Knowledge / Expertise in Problem solving tools like 7Step, Root Cause Analysis.
  • Knowledge of Various Inspection equipments / Processes.
  • Knowledge of SPC, MSA, PPAP
  • Manufacturing Quality Related troubleshooting skills,
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing process will be as added advantage.
