Job summary

Ventra Health, Inc. is seeking a Coding Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist to determine CPT and ICD-10 codes based on providers’ documentation for billing purposes.

You will ensure accurate coding aligned with medical records to support compliant revenue cycle management. The role requires 4 years of Emergency Department and Hospitalist Medicine coding experience, CPC preferred, and strong skills in medical terminology, database software, and communication.

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Ability to read and interpret medical records and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assigns appropriate billing codes to patient accounts and ensures completeness of documentation.
• Provides feedback to coders and to the Coding Supervisor on discrepancies and deficiencies.
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

• The Coding Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is primarily responsible for determining the appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes to be applied to patient accounts for billing purposes based on providers’ documentation in the patient’s medical record.

Essential Functions and Tasks

• Assigns appropriate billing codes to patient accounts. Performs ongoing analysis of medical record documentation for completeness.
• Provides feedback to Coders on coding discrepancies.
• Provides feedback to Coding Supervisor on documentation deficiencies.
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Four (4) years of Emergency Department (ED) and Hospitalist Medicine coding experience.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or equivalent, preferred.

• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Knowledge of the requirements of medical record documentation.
• Strong database software skills.
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Compensation

• Base Compensation will be based on various factors unique to each candidate including geographic location, skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

• This position is also eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus in accordance with company policies.
