Job summary

Planys Technologies seeks a dedicated Quality Engineer to support and improve Quality Management Systems for defence and subsea products. You will assist in inspections, supplier quality, inspection planning and traceability, and participate in root-cause analysis to drive CAPA.

You will review mechanical/electronic designs, PCB assemblies and manufacturing processes from a quality lens and support various tests, documenting observations and preparing reports.

Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or related disciplines.
  • 2–4 years of experience in Quality, Testing, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronics or Product Development.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, manufacturing processes, inspection techniques and PCB assemblies.
  • Exposure to quality systems, inspection, validation, testing or supplier quality through experience or projects.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, Six Sigma, JSS 55555 or MIL Standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of Quality Management Systems for defence and subsea products.
  • Assist in incoming inspection, supplier quality activities, inspection planning, and maintaining traceability.
  • Participate in root cause analysis using 5 Why, Fishbone and 8D, and support CAPA.
  • Review mechanical and electronic designs, including drawings, GD&T, PCB assemblies and manufacturing processes.
  • Support functional, environmental, vibration, thermal, pressure, EMI/EMC testing and document observations.
  • Prepare inspection reports, NCRs, CAPA records and maintain quality documentation for traceability.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to improve processes and reduce defects.
  • Assist in customer inspections, FAT, SAT, and audits to ensure quality standards.
  • Review mechanical assemblies, pressure housings, sealing systems, coatings, fasteners and tolerances for reliability.
  • Develop expertise in defence quality standards, reliability engineering, environmental qualification and certification.

About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join Planys Technologies. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of our Quality Management Systems, specifically tailored for defence and subsea products. Your responsibilities will include assisting in incoming inspections, supplier quality activities, inspection planning, and maintaining comprehensive quality documentation. You will participate in root cause analysis sessions using industry-standard tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, and 8D, and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Additionally, you will review mechanical and electronic designs from a quality and reliability perspective, including engineering drawings, GD&T, PCB assemblies, and manufacturing processes. The role involves supporting various testing activities such as functional, environmental, vibration, thermal, pressure, EMI/EMC, and qualification tests, along with documenting observations and preparing detailed test reports. You will prepare inspection reports, NCRs, CAPA records, and ensure complete product traceability. Collaborating closely with manufacturing teams, you will contribute to process improvements, defect reduction, and continuous quality enhancement initiatives. Supporting customer inspections, factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and audits will also be part of your responsibilities. You will review mechanical assemblies, pressure housings, sealing systems, coatings, fasteners, and manufacturing tolerances, ensuring compliance with quality standards. As part of your growth, you will continuously develop expertise in defence quality standards, reliability engineering, environmental qualification, and certification requirements, positioning yourself as a key contributor to our quality assurance efforts.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a B.E./B.Tech degree in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or related disciplines. A minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in Quality, Testing, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronics, or Product Development is preferred. Candidates should have a basic understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, manufacturing processes, inspection techniques, and PCB assemblies. Exposure to quality systems, inspection, validation, testing, or supplier quality through industry experience, internships, or academic projects will be advantageous. Familiarity with ISO 9001, Six Sigma, JSS 55555, or MIL Standards is an added benefit. The candidate must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent documentation abilities. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams are essential.
