Job summary

JoVE is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to lead testing across client-facing applications, internal tools, and backend APIs. You will implement testing strategies, manage test suites, and drive high-quality software in a fast-paced, fully remote environment.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in web/mobile testing, strong coding with JavaScript/HTML/CSS, and experience with Appium, Playwright, Postman, and API testing. Excellent written and spoken English is essential.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to spearhead our quality assurance activities. You will manage software and product testing within the Technology department. If you have extensive experience in test suite management, automated testing, and high-level problem-solving skills, then we want to talk to you.

Responsibilities

• Lead & Execute the testing of our client-facing applications, internal tools, and backend APIs to identify deficiencies to ensure quality expectations are met.
• Utilize and promote formal testing methodologies to contribute to a process focused on high-quality output.
• Investigate product quality to make improvements to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Log and track defects using the designated tracking system and tools.
• Identify quality assurance process bottlenecks and suggest actions for improvement.
• Work closely with Development, Product Management, and QA team members to develop an appropriate test approach and strategy for specific products and product lines.
• Identify and manage key KPIs and metrics for product quality.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience testing web applications and/or mobile applications.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute software test strategies and test cases.
• Experience in Functional, Integration, System, Regression, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and End-to-End System Integration Testing.
• Experienced in mobile testing tools (Appium, BrowerStack) highly desired.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum/DevOps development methodology.
• Strong understanding of JavaScript, PHP, HTML/CSS, and general web technologies.
• Ability to document and create clear, concise, and comprehensive bug reports, test plans, and test cases.
• Understanding of API Testing and API testing tools (Postman, SoapUI, Apigee) is a plus.
• Familiarity with building automation scripts and Playwright framework.
• Understanding of database architecture/concepts is a plus.
• Proven verbal and written communication skills in English. Other languages are a plus.
• Familiarity with Software Development Life cycle (SDLC) and testing process
