Job summary

Asansol Steel Castings Pvt. Ltd. in Asansol, West Bengal, seeks an experienced QC Chemist/Foundry Chemist to manage chemical analysis and quality control in a steel casting foundry.

The candidate should have 5–6 years in steel foundry/QC labs, hands-on OES operation, heat-wise analysis, and familiarity with RDSO and customer inspections. Diploma/DME or BSc in Chemistry preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–6 years in steel foundry/QC laboratory operations.
• Experience in steel chemistry and related testing.
• Knowledge of RDSO/customer inspection requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical analysis of molten steel and castings.
• Operate and maintain OES for heat-wise analysis.
• Check and control C, Si, Mn, S, P and alloying elements as per grades.
• Prepare samples from molten metal and castings for analysis.
• Verify heat chemistry before pouring and communicate results to production.
• Ensure chemical composition conforms to specifications and customer requirements.
• Maintain heat-wise chemical analysis records and traceability.
• Coordinate with QC and Production for chemistry correction.
• Coordinate chemical testing with mechanical/metallurgical testing activities.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, consumables and testing records.
• Ensure calibration and verification of instruments; prepare test reports and QA documentation.
• Support inspections during testing and investigations of chemistry-related issues.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced QC Chemist to manage chemical analysis and quality control activities in our steel casting foundry. The candidate should have practical experience in steel chemistry, OES/spectrometer operation, heat‑wise chemical control, laboratory testing and RDSO/customer inspection requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical analysis of molten steel and steel castings.
• Operate and maintain Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES) for heat‑wise chemical analysis.
• Check and control C, Si, Mn, S, P and alloying elements as per specified grades.
• Take and prepare samples from molten metal and castings for chemical analysis.
• Verify heat chemistry before pouring and communicate results to the Melting/Production team.
• Ensure chemical composition conforms to RDSO, customer, drawing and applicable material specifications.
• Maintain complete heat‑wise chemical analysis records and traceability.
• Coordinate with QC and Production departments for chemistry correction whenever required.
• Coordinate chemical testing with mechanical and metallurgical testing activities.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, consumables and testing records.
• Ensure proper calibration and verification of laboratory instruments.Prepare and maintain test reports, certificates and quality documentation.
• Support RDSO, customer and third‑party inspections during chemical and metallurgical testing.
• Assist in investigation of chemistry‑related rejection and quality issues.
• Ensure proper housekeeping, safety and discipline in the laboratory.
• Follow applicable QAP, SOP, ISO and customer‑specific quality requirements.
