Job summary

Uplers is seeking a QA Engineer to ensure the delivery of high-quality streaming applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, document, and verify issues and validate app functionality and performance.

The role requires 5+ years of QA experience across mobile and web streaming apps, with expertise in HLS, MPEG-DASH, and WebRTC. The position is hybrid, located in Hyderabad at Kapil Towers, with payroll and compliance managed by aLeading TV Apps Company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (relevant experience may substitute).
• Minimum 5 years of QA experience testing mobile and web apps, preferably streaming apps.
• Solid understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Experience with mobile and ctv app testing on iOS, Android, Roku, FireTV, Samsung Tizen, LG, etc.
• Experience with testing streaming technologies (HLS, MPEG-DASH, WebRTC).
• Proficiency with bug tracking tools (Jira, TestRail, Bugzilla).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Create test plans and test cases aligned with streaming app requirements.
• Execute tests across devices, platforms, and networks to validate functionality and UX.
• Perform regression, compatibility, usability, and performance testing.
• Document defects with detailed reproduction steps and logs.
• Collaborate with automation teams to select test cases for automation.
• Produce test reports, logs, and summaries for stakeholders.

Position Overview

As a Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality streaming applications that provide a seamless and enjoyable user experience. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and designers, to identify, document, and verify issues and to validate the functionality and performance of the streaming app. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly analytical, and possesses a passion for delivering flawless applications to our users.

Responsibilities

• Test Planning: Collaborate with the development and product teams to understand project requirements and design comprehensive test plans and test cases for the streaming app.
• Test Execution: Execute test cases to validate the functionality, performance, and user experience of the streaming app across various devices, platforms, and network conditions.
• Regression Testing: Conduct regression testing to ensure that new features and bug fixes do not introduce new issues or negatively impact existing functionalities.
• Compatibility Testing: Perform compatibility testing across different devices, browsers, and operating systems to ensure broad compatibility for the streaming app.
• Usability Testing: Evaluate the user interface and user experience of the streaming app to ensure it aligns with design specifications and industry best practices.
• Performance Testing: Measure and analyze the streaming app's performance, identifying bottlenecks and areas for optimization to enhance streaming quality and minimize buffering.
• Bug Reporting: Identify, document, and track defects using bug tracking tools, providing detailed information to developers for efficient issue resolution.
• Test Automation: Work with the automation team to identify test cases suitable for automation and collaborate in the development and maintenance of automated test scripts.
• Continuous Improvement: Provide feedback to the development team on areas for improvement in app performance, user experience, and overall quality.
• Documentation: Create detailed test reports, test logs, and test summaries to communicate testing results and progress to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (relevant experience may substitute for formal education).
• Proven experience as a QA Engineer, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in testing mobile and web applications, preferably streaming apps.
• Solid understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Familiarity with mobile and ctv app testing on various platforms (iOS, Android, Roku, FireTV, Samsung Tizen, LG etc.) and web browsers.
• Experience with testing streaming technologies and protocols (e.g., HLS, MPEG-DASH, WebRTC) is a strong plus.
• Proficiency in using testing and bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Bugzilla).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eye for detail.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technicaland non-technical team members.
• Experience in AI & Data-driven testing techniques.
• A passion for ensuring the highest quality user experience in streaming applications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, agile developmentenvironment.
• Experience in writing test automations is a plus.
