Job summary

FIS in Pune, India, is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer with backend and database testing to design, develop, and execute automated and manual test solutions for enterprise applications.

You will build Python-based automation, validate APIs and data across large databases, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to ensure quality is built into the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of software testing experience with emphasis on backend and automation.
• Hands-on Python automation development including desktop automation with pywinauto.
• Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux and Shell scripting.
• Solid SQL, data validation, and data reconciliation skills.
• Experience testing APIs and backend services in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Familiarity with Jira, Zephyr Scale, and Confluence for test management.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

What You Will Be Doing

• Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated and manual test solutions for enterprise applications.
• Develop automation frameworks and test utilities using Python, pywinauto, and Shell scripting.
• Validate backend systems, APIs, data processing, and batch workloads.
• Perform data validation and reconciliation using complex SQL queries across large-scale databases.
• Work closely with software engineers, business analysts, and product owners to ensure quality is built into the software development lifecycle.
• Analyze requirements and create effective test scenarios, test cases, and automation coverage.
• Troubleshoot production and client-reported issues through application and data analysis.
• Execute system, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing activities.
• Validate system performance, reliability, scalability, and security requirements.
• Communicate testing progress, risks, defects, and results effectively to stakeholders.
• Support test planning, risk assessment, and mitigation activities.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Required Skills And Experience

• 4–7 years of experience in software testing, with a strong focus on backend and automation testing.
• Strong hands-on experience in Python automation development, including desktop application automation using pywinauto.
• Strong financial services domain knowledge is required; capital markets or private equity experience is preferred.
• Strong experience with Unix/Linux environments, including Shell scripting.
• Strong database testing experience, including~
• SQL query development and optimization.
• Data validation and reconciliation.
• Database debugging and analysis.
• Stored procedures, functions, and database objects.
• Working with large data volumes and complex schemas.
• Experience testing APIs, batch processes, and backend services.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, defect lifecycle management, and quality processes.
• Experience working with Agile Scrum methodologies and SAFe/Value Stream concepts.
• Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, Zephyr Scale, and Confluence/Wiki.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with global teams.

Desired Skills

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
• Exposure to cloud-native technologies and modern application architectures.
• Knowledge of API testing tools and automation frameworks.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git/GitHub.
• Experience leveraging GitHub Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
