Job summary

Aon plc in India is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to design, develop, and maintain robust automated test frameworks for medium to high complexity systems. You will partner with Developers, BAs, Product Owners, and DevOps to drive test strategy and continuous testing in CI/CD pipelines.

You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to quality practices, and lead non-functional testing where applicable. Location is hybrid with Bangalore, Noida, and Gurgaon options.

Qualifications

• BTech in computer science or related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
• 7-10 years of work experience in relevant field.
• Strong hands-on experience with modern test automation frameworks for web/UI testing (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, WebDriverIO, or equivalent).
• Solid experience testing and automating REST APIs (Postman, REST Assured, Karate, etc.).
• Programming language proficiency for automation (Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Knowledge of software testing principles and techniques (functional, regression, etc.).
• SQL knowledge for data setup and validation.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve test automation strategy and frameworks for assigned applications and platforms.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites (UI, API, integration, and regression).
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing.
• Review requirements and designs with cross-functional teams to ensure testability.
• Lead efforts to maintain regression test packs and reduce flakiness.
• Analyze test results and collaborate with teams to resolve defects.
• Contribute to non-functional testing with performance and security checks.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and promote quality-minded practices.
• Influence QA engineering processes and tooling.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide testing input.

Senior QA Automation Engineer – works with limited guidance to design, develop, and maintain robust automated test frameworks and suites for medium to high complexity systems, ensuring high quality and reliability of deliverables. Partners closely with Developers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, and DevOps/Infra teams to drive test strategy, automation coverage, and continuous testing as part of CI/CD pipelines. Provides technical leadership within the QA function, mentors junior team members, contributes to estimation and risk identification, and influences improvements in quality engineering practices, tools, and processes.

Job Responsibilities

• Own and evolvetest automation strategy and frameworksfor assigned applications and platforms, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and reusability.
• Design, develop, and maintainautomated test suites(UI, API, integration, and regression) for medium to high complexity features and systems.
• Integrate automated tests intoCI/CD pipelines, enabling continuous testing, fast feedback, and quality gates as part of build and release processes.
• Work closely with BAs, Product Owners, and Developers toreview requirements and designs, identify test conditions early, and ensure functional and non‑functional requirements are testable.
• Lead efforts to maintain and optimizeregression test packs, ensuring appropriate coverage of critical business flows and minimizing flakiness.
• Analyze test results, troubleshoot failures, and collaborate with development and DevOps teams toidentify root causesand drive timely defect resolution.
• Contribute to and sometimes leadnon‑functional testingactivities (e.g., performance, reliability, basic security checks) using approved tools and practices.
• Mentor and supportjunior QA engineers, providing guidance on test design, automation practices, coding standards, and quality mindset.
• Influence and improveQA and engineering processes, standards, and tooling (e.g., coding guidelines for test automation, code review practices for test assets).
• Participate actively inAgile ceremonies(planning, refinement, reviews, retrospectives), providing input on test effort, quality risks, and readiness for release.
• Produce and maintain cleardocumentationof test frameworks, automation approaches, test plans, and test execution reports for stakeholders.

Skills and Experience

• 6+ years of strong hands‑on experience with moderntest automation frameworksfor web/UI testing (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, WebDriverIO, or equivalent).
• Solid experience testing and automatingREST APIs(e.g., Postman with Newman, REST Assured, Karate, or similar).
• Proficiency in at least oneprogramming languageused for automation (e.g., Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python), including good coding practices and refactoring skills.
• Practical experience integrating automated tests intoCI/CD tools(e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI) with build, test, and deployment pipelines.
• Strong understanding ofsoftware testing principlesand techniques (functional, integration, regression, exploratory, boundary, negative testing, etc.).
• Working knowledge ofrelational databases(e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle) and ability to write moderate‑complexity SQL for data setup and validation.
• Experience withversion control systems(e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows (branches, pull requests, code reviews).
• Exposure to or experience withperformance testing tools(e.g., JMeter, Gatling, k6) and analysis of performance results is a plus.
• Familiarity withBDD/TDD approachesand tools (e.g., Cucumber, SpecFlow, Behave) is desirable.
• Experience working inAgile/Scrumenvironments and collaborating with cross‑functional teams (Dev, QA, DevOps, Product, BA).
