Job summary

Citi in Pune, India seeks a Business Analytics Int Analyst to integrate deep analytics with business strategy. You will collect data from diverse stakeholders, identify trends, and deliver insights to support planning and policy decisions.

The role emphasizes methodological rigor, communication, and collaboration with partner teams to drive actionable outcomes and risk-aware strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher with 5–8 years in data analytics, or Master’s with 4–8 years, or PhD.
• Advanced process management skills, organized and detail oriented.
• Experience with hypothesis testing, segmentation, time series forecasting, and NLP/text mining.

Responsibilities

• Gathers operational data from cross functional stakeholders to examine past performance.
• Identifies data patterns and trends to enhance decision making in planning and process improvement.
• Suggests actions for future developments and strategic opportunities and policy enhancements.
• May perform exploratory/confirmatory data analysis and qualitative analysis.
• Continuously improve processes by evaluating new data sources, tools, and capabilities.
• Work with internal and external partners to build and track decision strategies.
• Assess risk in business decisions to protect Citigroup’s reputation and assets, ensuring compliance.

Job description

The Business Analytics Int Analyst is a developing professional role. Deals with most problems independently and has some latitude to solve complex problems. Integrates in-depth specialty area knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices. Good understanding of how the team and area integrate with others in accomplishing the objectives of the sub function/ job family. Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies. Requires attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of factual information. Typically deals with variable issues with potentially broader business impact. Applies professional judgment when interpreting data and results. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information. Moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities. Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of own team and other closely related teams.

Responsibilities:

• Gathers operational data from various cross functional stakeholders to examine past business performance.
• Identifies data patterns & trends, and provides insights to enhance business decision making capability in business planning, process improvement, solution assessment etc.
• Recommends actions for future developments & strategic business opportunities, as well as enhancements to operational policies.
• May be involved in exploratory data analysis, confirmatory data analysis and/or qualitative analysis.
• Continuously improve processes and strategies by exploring and evaluating new data sources, tools, and capabilities
• Work closely with internal and external business partners in building, implementing, tracking and improving decision strategies
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications

Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree with 5-8 years of experience in data analytics, or Master’s Degree with 4-8 years of experience in data analytics, or PhD.
• Must have:
  • Advanced process management skills, organized and detail oriented
  • Curious about learning and developing new skillsets
  • Experience across different analytical methods like hypothesis testing, segmentation, time series forecasting, test vs. control comparison etc.
  • Predictive modeling using Machine Learning
  • Experience with unstructured data analysis, e.g. call transcripts, using Natural language Processing (NLP)/ Text Mining
• Good to have:
  • Experience in financial services
  • Experience working with data from different sources and of different complexity

Skills

• Strong logical reasoning and problem-solving ability
• Proficient in converting business problems into analytical tasks, and analytical findings into business insights
• Proficient in formulating analytical methodology, identifying trends and patterns with data
• Has the ability to work hands-on to retrieve and manipulate data from big data environments
