We are Sisco Jobs, a recruitment consultancy based in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. We are hiring on behalf of our client for the position of Protection, Control, SCADA & Metering Engineer in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. Our client is a reputed organization operating on UK grid infrastructure programmes and is seeking skilled, motivated professionals with strong transmission substation protection, control, automation, SCADA and metering design experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop protection philosophies, protection SLDs, functional and logic diagrams, tripping schemes, interlocking narratives and coordinated protection/control schemes.
- Prepare CT/VT selection and burden calculations and inputs for DC loading, trip circuits, batteries/chargers and auxiliary supplies.
- Produce control and protection schematics, wiring and termination diagrams, I/O lists, signal lists, cable schedules, panel requirements and interface matrices.
- Define SCADA, HMI, gateway, telecontrol, time-synchronisation, disturbance-recording and remote-control requirements.
- Develop revenue and check-metering requirements and coordinate metering interfaces with primary plant and communications systems.
- Coordinate IEC 61850 architecture, GOOSE messaging, station/process bus requirements and engineering access/cybersecurity interfaces.
- Review OEM documentation, relay configurations and panel designs and resolve technical comments and deviations.
- Support protection studies, settings coordination, FAT/SAT, commissioning and testing documentation while applying independent checking and controlled issue processes.
Required Skills
- Transmission Protection: Strong knowledge of distance, differential, busbar, transformer/reactor and backup protection for HV transmission systems.
- IEC 61850: Practical experience with substation automation architecture, GOOSE messaging and associated engineering activities.
- SCADA & Telecontrol: Experience with SCADA/HMI, gateways, signal engineering and IEC 60870-5-104 or comparable utility telecontrol practices.
- Protection Engineering: Hands-on capability in CT/VT application, protection grading/coordination, DC systems, trip circuits and scheme verification.
- Relay & Design Tools: Hands-on experience with at least one major protection OEM relay platform and AutoCAD or equivalent schematic design tools.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with transmission schemes at 132 kV and above.
- Familiarity with relevant IEC, BS/EN and ENA protection/control guidance.
- OEM or utility-specific protection and control training.
Work Experience Requirements
Candidates must have 8–12 years of relevant professional experience, including substantial hands-on responsibility for substation protection/control design deliverables. Experience should cover high-voltage power, transmission, substations, utilities or directly comparable critical infrastructure. Commissioning-only profiles are insufficient; candidates must have personally produced protection philosophies, schematics/logic and signal or I/O schedules.
Education
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Control or Power Engineering
- Additional: Relevant OEM or utility training is advantageous
