Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Apply industry protection standards for system equipment including buses, transformers, breakers, reactors, and feeders.
• Perform power system modeling and coordination analyses using ETAP, SKM, ASPEN OneLiner, or CAPE (plus).
• Design calculations such as short circuit, CT performance, and relay load calculations.
• Provide engineering support with construction and commissioning activities for substations.

Protection Application Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Perform system protection setting calculation, develop relay logic diagrams, and protection coordination on various Transmission and Distribution projects (up to 345-kV voltage level)


• Develop design basis documentation for protective settings, relay settings calculations and generate native relay configuration files using SEL’s AcSELerator and GE’s EnerVista software


• Apply industry standards for the protection of system equipment, including power buses, power transformers, HV/MV circuit breakers, capacitor banks, reactors, transmission lines, and distribution feeders


• Perform power system modeling and protective relay coordination analysis using ETAP, SKM, ASPEN OneLiner, or Siemens CAPE software is a plus


• Design calculations, including short circuit calculation, current transformer performance and ratio selection, over-current element coordination, zone-distance element selection and coordination, and relay load ability calculation


• Provide engineering support with construction and commissioning activities for substations
