Job summary

ideaForge in Navi Mumbai is seeking an engineer to advance Testing & Validation of ESCs, Motors and Propellers, and to push Data Science and ML applications for propulsion design.

You will develop codes and algorithms in Python/Matlab, create CAD drawings, manage design documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across mechanical, power electronics, and aerodynamics to improve performance and reliability. The role involves real flight system work with GD&T standards.

Qualifications

• Testing and validation of ESCs, motors and propellers with inference-driven conclusions.
• Applying DS/ML techniques (Python & Matlab) for testing combinations.
• Develop codes and algorithms to standardise propulsion design with GD&T considerations.
• Willingness to learn across Mechanical, Power Electronics, Aerodynamics and Flight Mechanics.
• Design of propulsion system components and subsystems with effective transmission of forces and torques.
• Lifecycle management of design drawings and documentation with GD&T and tolerance stacking.
• Sketching, CAD and surface modelling fundamentals.
• Ensure quality and reliability across design iterations and manufacturing batches.
• Maintain CAD design docs, tests, and reports for troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand designs.

• Testing & Validation : Doing testing & validation of various combinations of ESCs, Motors & Propellers and validating through Inferences & Conclusions with reasoning. Further, corelating the same with flight data & logs.


• Data Science & Machine Learning: Doing testing & validation of various combinations of ESCs, Motors & Propellers using DS & ML techniques preferably using Python & Matlab.


• Develop Codes & Algorithms : Develop codes & algorithms to standardise design of various aerospace propulsion elements, along with various performance stability & aerodynamics criteria’s and calculations. (Preferably in Python & MS excel)


• Adaptable & Open to new learnings: Should be adaptable & open to new domain learnings in terms of understanding & visualising how things interact, specifically in Mechanical, Basic of Power Electronics, Aerodynamics & Flight Mechanics domain.


• Design of Simple & Complex Mechanical Systems: Should be good in designing Simple & complex mechanical aspects of Propulsion Systems. Basic understanding of design & how things work. Should be able to understand how forces & torques are transmitted from one part/Sub assembly to another. Should be able to corelate Mechanical & electro mechanical sub-systems specifically for efficiency w.r.t correlation of data from testing & trials of various Sub systems of Propulsion Systems such as ESC, Motor, Propellers and other associated units.


• Design & Drawing Management: Manage the lifecycle of product designs from ideation to realisation. Make design & drawing documentation to ensure comprehensive 3D CAD design, documentation, including specifications and Product/Part/Sub modules design reports, with adherence to GD&T standards & Tolerance Stacking in drawings.


• Sketching, CAD & Surface Modelling: Basic & advanced understanding of how Sketching, CAD & Surface modelling is done.


• Quality and Reliability : Champion the application of GD&T and tolerance stack-up to ensure consistent quality across design iterations and manufacturing batches. Uphold the highest standards of quality throughout the design process and investigate and resolve any quality issues arising from design or manufacturing processes.


• Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of CAD design, drawings, reports and test results to facilitate troubleshooting and future development.


• Cross Functional Team : Interact with cross functional teams to understand the respective designs details.
