Job summary

SJRI-ICMR-NIN Centre for Collaborative Research in Bengaluru seeks a Project Research Scientist-I (Non Medical) to support energy and protein requirement studies using stable isotopes, calorimetry, and body composition analysis. The role focuses on modeling and data analysis within public health research projects.

The contract position requires 2 years of relevant experience and a PhD in Mathematics is preferred. English and Kannada language skills are desired.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in building and working with mathematical models.
• Worked with whole body potassium counter and Monte Carlo simulations.

Responsibilities

• Visit collaborating centre ICMR-NIN and contribute to planning and establishing calorimetry and potassium counting facilities.
• Participate in calibration exercises and performance verification of facilities.
• Train and support research personnel in models, tools, SOPs to ensure consistency across studies.
• Develop and implement mathematical models to predict health outcomes across studies.
• Automate existing models to improve efficiency, accuracy and reproducibility.
• Perform data quality control checks for accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare technical reports and SOPs for mathematical models used in public health research.
• Collaborate with PI on other research projects.

Job Summary:

The SJRI-ICMR-NIN Centre for Collaborative Research aims to strengthen estimates of energy and protein requirements in the Indian population using stable isotope methods, advanced body composition assessment and calorimetry. The initiative combines infrastructure development and capacity building to generate high-quality evidence for national dietary guidelines and nutrition policy.

Salary :Rs. 72,800/- p.m.

Key Responsibilities:

• Visit SJRI's collaborating centre, ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN), and contribute to the planning, development and establishment of whole-room indirect calorimetry and whole-body potassium counting facilities.
• Participate in calibration exercises and performance verification of these facilities.
• Train and support research personnel in using models, computational tools, quality control procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent implementation across studies.
• Develop and implement mathematical models to predict health outcomes across studies.
• Automate existing models to improve efficiency, accuracy and reproducibility in research.
• Perform data quality control checks to ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency.
• Prepare technical reports and SOPs for mathematical models used in public health research.
• Contribute to other research projects within the Division in collaboration with the Principal Investigator (PI)
